Easy Embossing Folder Cards!

Well, winter is definitely underway at our house! The kids have been sick (that always seems to happen at this time), but are now feeling better; the weather is very wintry out; and the Christmas tree is up!  When I lived in Nova Scotia I never put my tree up early. Mostly because I always had a real tree.  Here in Alberta it is so much more expensive for a real tree - being that there are not as many forests as on the East Coast, so we have our lovely fake tree!

I thought I'd share these quick and easy embossed cards with you today. I have had these Christmas embossing folders for a while now, but for some reason couldn't find the right way to use them. I got out my Distress Inks and sponges and was really surprised at how easy these came together!

For the first one I used some small finger sponge daubers to give me a little more control and just lightly sponged on the ink. I added a few yellow Stickles to the flower centers and it was done!

Inside I heat embossed a piece of vellum with my Believe sentiment.

For the second I used the larger Tim Holtz sponge applicators and 3 different shades of ink. You could use the small ones again though and shade each group of words individually. I had a Christmas sticker from a few years back and attached it to the front with some pretty gold ribbon. Done!

A quick stamped greeting on the inside, highlighted with white gel pen.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend! I can't believe it's December 1st tomorrow....!

Milk & Cookies Happy Birthday!

Funny, I didn't realize how many birthdays I had to make cards for this time of year! I think I need to start a little earlier making a stash of birthday cards along with holiday cards :)

I needed a quick birthday card for a 7 year old nephew - so what could be better than cookies and milk??! Out comes the new Milk & Cookies stamp set from Pretty Cute Stamps and the My Girl 6x6 patterned paper pack from My Mind's Eye.  I love these bright colours - and it just goes to show you that you can just as easily use this paper for a boy card just by using the B side! (I think anybody would love these colours!) I used the sketch from Scrapping Everyday Miracles turning it lengthwise and popped up the sentiment at the bottom with foam dots.

I coloured the cute cookie and the milk with Distress Markers on watercolour paper and then added these adorable glasses and the heart stamp!

Inside and on the envelope I added stamps from the Wish Big stamp set from Pretty Cute Stamps.

Pretty Cute Stamps Feature - Llama Birthday Card!

Oh my gosh, have you seen this Pretty Cute Stamps Little Llama stamp set?!! Too cute!!

I recently made this card for a friend's birthday and totally had to share it with you! For my background I used a sheet from the Kaisercraft Base Coat Christmas 6x6 paper pad and heat embossed the snowflakes from the Pretty Cute Stamps Christmas Cheer stamp set.  I have used these snowflakes so much already! I stamped this sweet little guy on kraft cardstock and coloured him in with coloured pencils. The hearts are included in the set as well and I coloured them in with gel pens before layering them over the vellum banner and inside the card.

Of course, I'm a big fan of stamps I can add details on with, such as this cool scarf - perfect for a winter birthday! I coloured it in with markers and added some white gel pen dots before popping it up with foam dots.

I just love this sentiment...! I stamped the front on vellum so I didn't cover up my snowflakes.

Inside:

I love that this Little Llama stamp set can be used for so many occasions!!

Thanks so much for joining me today. Be sure to head over to the Pretty Cute Store to check out all the amazing stamp sets available! Wishing you a really awesome week :)

Sweet Sunday Wreath Card!

I just love the Sweet Sunday sketches!! This week I decided to pull out a stamp set that I have had for at least 10 years! It's one that has all the elements of the wreath separate - I've seen lots of these lately. Funny, how things keep coming back in style. I used specialty stamping paper and Colorbox pigment inks to layer each stamp around a circle I drew with pencil. I used some Pink Paislee City Sidewalks paper as my background paper. This is one of those collections that I wish I really did buy more of!

The poinsettia is from a coordinating stamp and die set we used at a Make 'n Take last week, where I brought home some leftover leaves I didn't use. I layered my flower over a piece of vellum I stamped with my greeting and a Dec 25th stamp that I added Glossy Accents to.

Inside, I added another sentiment and a strip of that pretty red and white striped paper.

I hope you are enjoying this week leading up to December. I always feel like I'm ahead of things and then December hits and I feel frantic! This year I am really trying to cut back and enjoy the important things.

FCCB #238 - Give Thanks!

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Thank You or Thanksgiving Card

I am soooo enjoying my new Cricut Explore and all the wonderful possibilities in Design Space! And, did you hear??? In January there will be an app for the iPad for Design Space! I am very excited :) Anyway.... for my project this week I used Design Space to create my card. Since we already celebrated Thanksgiving in October here in Canada, I wanted to make a special Thank You card. I used 'The First Few Years' cartridge to cut the outside circle, blue background circle and the oval.  I welded two of the outside circles to create a circular card base. I cut a rectangle from the 'Days and Dates' cartridge and sliced it to match the inner circle (cool feature!), and then I cut the banner from the 'When I Was A Kid' cartridge.  I love how easy it is to search for a particular image and then get a visual of exactly what cuts are available. I sponged all my cuts with Distress Inks before gluing them all together.

This cute little fox is from a Gorguss Girls stamp set - I coloured him in with Prismacolor Markers and used the leaf and star stamps also in the set, which I coloured with Distress Markers. The inner silver circle was drawn with the Sketch feature on the Explore, instead of cutting it out. I popped up the oval with foam dots on top of the grey banner - which I sprinkled with a little Tim Holtz Pewter Distress Stain (sooooo pretty).

Inside, I cut another scalloped circle and Sketched the Thanks sentiment inside.  It was actually a cut that said Many Thanks from the 'Days & Dates' cartridge and I ungrouped it in Design Space and changed the Thanks cut to a sketch. The outline was then sketched with the silver Cricut marker and I coloured it in.

Thanks so much for joining me today!! I had so much fun creating this card - and I hope you will check out the FCCB blog to see what all the other Design Team members created. You can even enter your own to have a chance to win an awesome prize!

Oh What Fun Snow Globe and Stocking Tags!

I have been having so much fun with my Cricut!! and recently I won a gift certificate from the Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons store (so amazing - you have to check it out!) and decided to pick up some awesome SVG's to use in Design Space.

I couldn't resist putting this cute little elf on the snow globe scene! He just looks like he's dancing for joy :) I cut two of the snow globe SVG backgrounds and then scored the top one before attaching it to create a card. I added some Distress Ink sponging to the edge of the cuts and some Stickles dots over the background for some extra snowy shimmer!

I paper pieced the Elf's outfit from from the Christmas Cheer stamp set by Pretty Cute Stamps and used the snowflakes and a sentiment from the same set.

Inside I stamped another wonderful sentiment from the same set and added a few stitching lines with marker.

I was also quickly able to whip up these Stockings, which I turned into tags by adding some red and white bakers twine. I used another sentiment from the set to stamp on one cuff and added some red Stickles to the berries for shine on the other. I think there were some little elves eating cookies near my stockings!

I hope you're having as much fun as I am getting ready for Christmas! Have a wonderful, crafty weekend!

For my project for the hop, I've used the Milk & Cookies stamp set. Isn't it the sweetest?!!  I can think of so many uses for this set, and the little faces... adorable!

I stamped the cookie and milk on watercolour paper and coloured them with Distress Markers, and then added my details - the faces, glasses and bows. The background paper is from an Echo Park 'My Girl' 6x6 paper pad, and I edged the pieces with Fired Brick Distress Ink before layering them on. I just love this sentiment!

I added Glossy Accents to the little glasses - how can you not love a cookie with glasses?! and I love all the additional stamps you can add to the cookies and milk in this set! I cut out the plate that is underneath the cookies from the Savory Cricut cartridge and then stamped on some cookie crumbs.

Inside, I added another cute sentiment and how could I resist adding some hearts and a few more crumbs!

FCCB #237 - Embellish Me!

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Challenge #237 Embellish Me
Use at least 3 embellishments

This Weeks Sponsor
Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

For my project this week I wanted create an ornament that I can slip into an envelope for a friend. I cut the background circle and the scalloped circle from the Heritage cartridge and then stamped a woodgrain background stamp and heat embossed white snowflakes from the Pretty Cute Stamps Christmas Cheer stamp set (I used this set for the Deck The Halls stamp too!).

I then cut the bird holding the Christmas star from Folk Art Festival and tucked him into the scalloped circle. For my embellishments I added a glittery mini clothes pin, a paper tag from the Kaisercraft Basecoat Christmas 6x6 paper pack, a pearl gem for the bird's eye, glittery green star stickers and some brown twine!

On the back I added a couple more stickers and another sentiment from the stamp set above.

I think making a few of these paper ornaments as a special gift is a great idea! I can't wait to see what you all come up with. Be sure to check out the other amazing projects the rest of the Design Team has come up with at the FCCB blog & enter your own for a chance to win an awesome prize!!
