If you've arrived here from Tara at the Scrap 'N Stamp blog, you're in the right place as she's at the start of the hop. We have all used the fabulous Dee's Distinctively Stocking Die from In The Making for this fun blog hop! It will be amazing to see all the awesome ways each designer uses this die! It's a really gorgeous die - and cuts beautifully. I couldn't help but make two projects!!
***And the best part -you can get this die FREE by spending $50 at the Scrap 'N Stamp store! (Canadian shopping only) Sorry my international friends - but you do get to see some amazing Christmas inspiration!!
For my first project I created a Christmas card by diecutting this beautiful stocking out of Green Glitter Paper. This paper is amazing! It's a thin weight glitter paper, that is nice and sturdy, but easily diecuts. I added an extra shim of paper in my Cuttlebug to make sure everything cut out and it turned out wonderfully. I wanted to go for a vintage-y vibe and grabbed some softer Christmas papers from my stash. By cutting out several stockings I was able to use the negative images to create an inlaid diecut effect.
I used the Red Glitter Paper to create a border strip and added a bow created with my We R Memory Keepers 123 punch and then added some SpiegelMom Scraps sequins. I used a Tim Holtz brick embossing folder and embossed some Co-ordinations cardstock and then grabbed some Tim Holtz Picket Fence, Pewter and Tarnished Brass Stains to randomly cover the brick. I spritzed the whole background with some Perfect Pearls mist to blend a bit.
Inside, I used a Retro Merry Christmas stamp by In The Making. It's a cling stamp that stamps beautifully! I added another strip of that pretty Green Glitter Paper and a few more sequins.
I love this Noel Stamp set from In The Making as well - each letter is individually cut out, so you can place them however you want without any masking. I stamped with Versamark ink on black cardstock and used Gold embossing powder. Then, I fussy cut each letter out and placed them vertically.
I had so much fun making the card that I decided to use the Red Glitter Paper to make a tag too! I created a background on a manilla tag by first embossing the Noel Stamp set with an iridescent embossing powder. Then, I used Tim Holtz Antiqued Bronze Spray Stain, Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray and Heidi Swapp silver Color Shine mist to spray the background and used some spritzes of Perfect Pearls mist to blend it all together. The embossed letters resisted the mist and I love how some of the mist seeped into the areas that didn't completely emboss! I lightly wiped the tag with a paper towel in spots, and I love the texture that created! I sprayed some seam binding ribbon with coordinating colours and crinkled it up to dry before attaching it to the tag.
I added a few stamped images from a set of Tim Holtz background stamps around the background and added a few more SpiegelMom Scraps sequins before popping up my stocking. I love how vintage this tag turned out!
