Craft Studio

Since I am missing crafting/scrapbooking due to the new baby and our recent move I thought I'd try out the Martha Stewart Craft Studio app for the iPad. It is great! It comes with 4 sets of coordinated papers, stamps, paper punches, stickers, glitter and text in different themes that can be mixed and matched. You can also purchase other themes if you wish. Your creation can be uploaded to Facebook, printed with Snapfish, saved in your photos or emailed.

It was nice to have a little crafty fix!

Mermaid Birthday Wishes

Scrapbookers Paradise has a great sketch challenge this week, so I thought I'd get a birthday card done for my niece. I used a cute mermaid stamp set colored with Prismacolor markers, a hand cut wave border and of course a little bling.

For my Guest Designer project I wasn't sure at first what to do... Graduation isn't something I normally have a card to make for, but after thinking a bit I decided I really wanted to make a scrapbook page that I could frame for my 5 year old.  This is her last year in Preschool and she'll be starting Kindergarten in the fall. 

I found a really cute digi stamp by Heather Ellis who designs Pure Innocence stamps and sells them on Etsy for only $1.70 CAD!  For that price you can get tons of cute images to color! She sells them as a JPEG and I simply open them in my word processing program and resize them as desired. I also found a graduation cap at Birds Cards website, where there are lots of other free digi images and sentiments. I colored both images with Prismacolor markers and added a few Stickles.

The printed paper is by Cosmo Cricket - I just love their papers! and I used my Spellbinders banner dies, which I distressed around the edges and popped up with foam dots.  I also printed out part of a Dr. Seuss poem "Oh the places you'll go", as well as my titles, which I framed with cardstock, and, of course, I added some Distress Inks here and there!

This was a fun challenge! Hope you will play along too :)

Springtime & Last Week's Winner!!

It is finally starting to feel like spring today here in the west of Canada, though we did have snow just yesterday!

Scrapbooker's Paradise challenge this week was an inspirational photo of beautiful cherry blossoms, so I used CTMH cherry paper, and on one card I used Flower Soft to resemble the blossoms on the tree. The cute stamps are from CTMH as well. I used the Stampin Queen sketch for this week.

I mounted the cherry button stickers on black cardstock and popped them up with foam dots, the smaller one is popped up with 2 layers of foam to be a bit higher.

And, I am soooo excited to have won the challenge last week for Scrapbooker's Paradise!! Woohoo! As the winner I get an awesome new stamp and get to be a guest designer for the challenge which will be issued for Friday, May 11, 2012 - so be sure to check back to see my project!

Cup of Tea

I seem to have a bit of a backlog of cards needed right now! I'm still getting caught up on Thank You cards for baby Erica and then there are a bunch of family birthdays as well as Mothers' Day around the corner.

I found a great sketch over at Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge. As well, Heart 2 Heart and There She Goes have a challenge this week to use flowers on a project. And lastly, Scrapbookers Paradise's challenge is a card for a friend.

For my cards I clear embossed a card background with a CTMH floral stamp as a resist and sponged on distress ink. I then layered Spellbinders die cuts in the center and embossed a CTMH tea cup stamp (love this cute stamp!). I added a few stickles to the steam and on one card embossed a silver spoon CTMH stamp on black cardstock and on the other added a flower cut at 3" from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Happy Birthday!

It is my beautiful niece, Sydney's birthday on Thursday and she's turning 12! I can't believe it! She is so sweet and creative and always makes us the most amazing cards.

For her card this year I used a digital stamp from Heather Ellis' Etsy store, which I colored with Prismacolor markets and cut out with a spellbinders die. For the card background I stamped a background and used clear embossing powder as a resist and then used distress ink to coordinate with the colors in the stamped image. Finally the flower is made with the CTMH Art Philosophy cart and cut at 4". I added some Stickles and a pearl to the center of the flower.

Easter Cards!

I finally got to use my Art Philosophy cartridge from Close To My Heart! It is such an awesome cartridge! There are so many cuts to choose from... I made these 3 cards from one of the card cuts on the cartridge.  It was so easy to fold perfectly with the score lines, and I used my Scor Pal to completely score down the fold.  I used a digital My Favorite Things, Pure Innocence stamp from Heather Ellis' Etsy shop, which I colored with Prismacolor markers.  I added Stickles to the card and around the flower cutout, and put a coordinating paper inside the card.
