Popcorn the Bear Birthday

I absolutely love this cute stamp set that Liz sent me in the valentine swap kit we did through FCCB!

I coloured him in with Distress Markers and a water brush on watercolour paper. I love the way the Distress Markers create a more muted colour palette. They really are lovely to watercolour with!

I added Stickles and a clear sparkly Jellyroll gel pen for glimmer.

The banner openings were already cut into the card base so I backed the opening with a border strip from my kit and then added bakers twine and two adorable mini clothes pins. I added some Distress Marker and sparkly gel pen around each opening.

For the inside I stamped a sentiment included with the bear set and attached it to the same border strip as the front.  I added the cute duck, also watercoloured, to the bottom.

This would be a cute little boy or baby birthday card!

Be sure to watch for an upcoming post featuring all the goodies that came in the kit and the super cute Valentine card Liz sent, along with a recap of all the cards I've made with it!

Create a project using the following sketch:

This sketch is from the now defunct Card Positioning Systems.

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

Here's my project -

I used the Kate's ABC's cartridge to cut this bright, sunny flower.

I used 3 different washi tapes in strips and used stitching stamps from CTMH for faux stitching.

Hope you all had a great weekend! We had sun and warmer temps finally :)

Thinking of you Butterfly

It is an amazing, warm day here on Calgary! This is soooo exciting because it has been a very long, very cold winter. Just last week we were looking at temps in the -30's C. Way too cold!

This butterfly card is just the thing to chase away winter! Using the Valentine swap kit from my FCCB DT sister, Liz, I followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and layered cardstock, patterned paper, adhesive backed ribbon and the pretty butterfly die cut Liz sent me.

I added some Stickles to the wings.

I stamped using a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp February card kit, and I hand drew the dotted lines.

I hope spring is coming to your neck of the woods!

Easter Bunny Hugs

Another cute card today using the Valentine swap kit from Liz at FCCB!

Liz stamped this adorable bunny and the sentiment inside the card for me to colour in. I cut a 6x6 cardstock piece of pink chevron into strips and placed them on the embossed card front, following the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I stamped the Easter eggs from CTMH on a hand cut banner and coloured them with Distress Markers.

I cut the white background in a tag shape and mounted it on pink cardstock and used Prismacolor markers and coloured pencils to colour the image in.

You Are Loved!

I think this card might be one of my most fav cards I've made so far with the awesome Valentine swap kit Liz sent me, my DT sister at FCCB.

I followed the Sketch at Mojo Monday and coordinated all the pink patterned papers from the kit. I used Simon Says Stamps, from the stamp set included with the February card kit, for the sentiments on the outside - stamping the 'loved' directly onto the wood veneer embellishment.

I layered the paper flower, adding some colour around the edge with Distress Markers and giving it dimension by adding a foam dot and bending the petals and then adding a pearl to the centre. I cut a second leaf from green cardstock and used a green Distress Marker to make it look similar to the other leaf.

The cute heart brads fit right into the theme, positioned in the hole punched in the top of each tag.

Inside I used one of the sentiments Liz stamped on white cardstock and layered it on matching cardstock.

When I craft the girls often get in on the action.  I had to share this amazing card Amie made.

It says "Creativity..... Can be Anything!"
How inspiring! She is such a creative kid :)

Then, of course, Erica had to make a card of her own

And she needed me to take a pic of both inside and out, lol!

Wishing you all a crafty weekend!

Monster Birthday!

Click here for this week's FCCB challenge post!

I'm busy making cards with the fun Valentine swap set I received from Liz through the FCCB blog. What a fun way to connect with our DT sisters! Liz stamped this cute monster and the sentiment inside from a Jaded Blossoms set for me

I decided to follow along with this week's Sweet Sunday sketch from The Sweetest Thing.

As well, over at Scrapbookers Paradise they are having a challenge to use 5 of Linda's favorite things!

From her list I chose:
1- die cut (behind the doily)
2- doily (die cut)
3- brad (heart in the wood veneer embellishment)
4- eyelets (green in the spots of the monster)
5- small adornment (wood veneer arrow)
6- button (lizard)
7- ribbon (green floral rickrack)

I coloured this cute guy with Prismacolor markers and coloured pencils.

I popped up the monster image with foam dots and then glued the front feet of the lizard onto the top. I couldn't remove the button shank, but it still sat nicely because of the height of the popped up image.

I placed the heart brad through the wood veneer hole, the banner, and the image. I used a Distress marker to colour the wood and it worked well.

Thanks for joining me today! I feel like I'm finally back in the groove after the hustle of Christmas and 4 birthdays!

Live, Laugh, Love

As I'm continuing to use the wonderful supplies that Liz sent me in our Valentine Swap I came up with this elegant card. I followed the March card sketch over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles - a wonderful blog to check out! Their theme this month is Laughter - so I wanted to include that as well.

At the Bitten By The Bug 2 blog the challenge this week is to use your favorite Cricut cut - mine would definitely be the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge! I used it to make the frame, banner and the heart cut that is inside the card.

On the top right corner I white heat embossed a swirl image.

I popped up the layered frame cuts around the image.  The card panel had a floral image embossed on it so I coloured the raised areas with a silver gel pen.

I silver heat embossed the sentiment on the banner and then hand drew stitching lines around the edge with a black pen.  After I swiped the edges with a blue H2O paint.

I silver heat embossed the heart sentiment on the white heart die cut and again added the stitching lines and blue H2O paint, swiping some in the middle of the bible verse.
