Park Princess

I really wanted to play along with the August Sketchy Challenge at Canadian Scrapbooker before August was over.... and how did it get to be the end of August already?!

I've been using some pics I had printed from 2010 - it's amazing how fast time flies and how quick little ones grow! We used to go to this park a lot, but last year with flooding in Alberta most of this park was destroyed and it's been closed for construction. Amie has always loved going to the park, and her love of all things pink and purple and princessy resulted in the title Park Princess.

August Sketch

This colour scheme is much more muted than I usually do, but a nice change.  I used mostly the "B" sides of the 3 coordinating papers I chose.

I stamped on watercolour paper and used Distress Markers to watercolour in the stamped flowers.  The butterfly was a bright purple and didn't really match the paper so I covered it with pink Distress Paint and when that didn't completely cover it I used white embossing powder, resulting in a muted pink colour - perfect!

I wanted my journaling to be readable, but not stand out too much, so I wrote it on top of the patterned paper.

Back to School
Create a back to school project

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

For my project this week I repurposed a clipboard that I picked up at a garage sale this summer.  It was already painted green, and I added the notebook paper from a CTMH pack that I had. I stamped the centre with a Graphic 45 alphabet stamp in Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then started to Mod Podge on my diecuts from the Cursive 101 Cricut cartridge and other images.

I made this so that my beautiful daughter, Amie, (her quote :) could clip up her school work and art that she brings home from school.  I welded the letters together with the Gypsy and after gluing them to the background I used a brown Distress Marker and a wet paintbrush to create a shadow around the edges and then traced around with a black Distress Marker to create an outline.

I used the little apple stamps from Pretty Cute Stamps new release - Bushels Of Fun to add an apple to my books and notepage diecuts. I'm so glad I got to use the fun school themed cuts on this cartridge.  I love the font on it and use it quite a lot.

 A+ for Amie!

I just love the Prima Paper Doll stamps! Amie picked out this girl to match her - long curly hair - and she picked out the paper for the paper pieced clothing, headband and shoes. We added a flower cut from some ribbon to her headband.  I love involving her in projects like this - she is so creative!

Please hop over to the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog to check out all the fun Back To School projects the Design Team has come up with - and enter your own for a chance to win!!

I hope you all have a lovely week coming up! We have one more week before school starts, so we need to enjoy every minute :)

Sleigh Rides

Okay, I know it is still Summer, lol! But I'm trying to make sure I'm ahead of the game when it comes to Christmas cards - and I love playing along with the Festive Friday challenge! Their inspirational photo this week (shown below) features a brown, white and black colour scheme. Not traditional colours, but I was so inspired by the Design Team I wanted to try it myself.  I used a Kraft cardstock base and layered a black 'handmade-type' paper over the top of the card. I have had this paper, and the white one bordering the focal image, for years. I was really pleased I was able to pull from my stash to create this card!

I used Ranger Sticky Stuff to heat emboss the sleigh and then sprinkled on a black sparkly glitter called Twilight by Recollections. I need to use this stuff with glitter more!

This stamped image was one I got quite a few years ago and had stored away. It's a good reminder to pull out those things you have in storage and look through them! I heat embossed with black embossing powder and then used my Picket Fence Distress marker to colour over the snowy areas. This marker is so neat - it actually dries opaque. I used a brown marker to go over part of the fence and the cabin and then used a clear Wink Of Stella marker. Can I tell you how much I love this marker?! So shimmery!

The Sleigh Rides sentiment and the sleigh were from a set I picked up at a garage sale this summer. I white heat embossed on top of the black banner.

OOOH, we are finally here! The big day! The August Release blog hop! If you came here from Dawn's blog you are in the right place - If you want to start at the beginning, head over to the Pretty Cute Stamps blog.

I have one more card to show you before I show you the new stamps! (no peeking!) I just love this cute owl from the Chick With Brains stamp set. For this card I put Distress Stains in pinks, yellows and oranges on my craft sheet and, after white heat embossing my owl, I spritzed the stain and smooshed my watercolour paper face first on my craft sheet. After it dried I coloured my owl in with Distress Markers and moved them around with a paintbrush and some water until I was happy with the effect. I added a few Stickles and some black Enamel Accents to the eyes. Then I layered my watercolour paper over a patterned paper background. I white heat embossed the adorable sentiment on a handcut banner and popped it up with foam dots.
I popped up the wings to hold my pinwheel that I made from the bow stamp included with the set and added a brad to the centre.

Inside I added another pinwheel and a strip of paper to match the front.

So, how cute is this set?!!!

Pretty Cute Stamps - Sneak Peek!

Yay! The August Stamp release is soooo close!! Have you been enjoying all the fun sneak peeks shared on the Pretty Cute Stamps blog?? Here's one more for you!

I used the new Bushels Of Fun stamp set - I can almost smell the apple pie! Yum! This set makes me think of cinnamon, scents of fall, warm homemade baking, crunchy apples - all the things I love about fall :) Another thing I love about this set is all the sentiments that are included! Wait till you see them - so many options.

I used some papers from 6x6 pads from Imaginisce and Simple Stories. The banner is cut with a Spellbinders die and I used some black and white bakers twine along with some buttons in each corner.
I cut the circle around the pie with my circle cutter from CM - I have had this for at least 15 years! One of my first scrapbooking purchases :) I used Prismacolor Markers to colour in the pie and apples, and I white heat embossed the banner with this adorable sentiment.

The super cute faces on the apples are interchangeable - how sweet is that! I added some white gel pen on the mouths and pink cheeks using a Prismacolor colouring pencil.

Remember, all the new August release stamp sets, including this one - Bushels of Fun- are going to be available August 20th at the Pretty Cute Stamps store and they will be on sale!!! through August 26, 2014. Be sure to check back tomorrow when all the stamp sets are released in a fun blog hop featuring amazing projects from each of the Design Team members using these fabulous new stamps!

FCCB 224 - Camp Out

Camp Out
Create a project inspired by the outdoors

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

For my project this week I used the Create A Critter (Tee-Pee, fire and speech bubble) and Gypsy Wandering (sun) Cricut cartridges along with the Hamster Cutie stamp set from Pretty Cute Stamps - our sponsor!! We have been doing lots of camping this summer - it's been a little easier with Erica at 2 1/2 this year - and the girls have been having a great time! So, I decided to make a card featuring a fun tent and campfire to remind me that it still is summer and we need to enjoy every minute of it!

I used paper from CTMH that I have had in my stash for a long time - Twitterpated, and layered it on a Kraft card base. I added some Distress Inks and stitching lines to the tent and fire and popped them up with foam dots on my base.

I watercoloured this cute hamster using Distress Markers on watercolour paper.  This stamp set has a really adorable set of interchangeable props for 'Hammy' to hold!

The sentiments are from the same stamp set and I curved the clear Happy Birthday to mold to the shape of the speech bubble.  I added some black stitching lines and some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to the edges.

For one final touch I stamped the envelope:)

Be sure to head on over to the FCCB blog to check out the other Design Team's fabulous projects this week and enter your own for a chance to win a sweet gift certificate from our sponsor, Pretty Cute Stamps!

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons
~This Weeks Challenge~

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

For my card this week  I used the Straight From The Nest Cricut cartridge for the egg border, nest and sentiment.

The sweet birdie is a digi stamp from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons - our sponsor this week! I coloured him in with Prismacolor Markers and popped him up on top of my diecuts.

I cut the base egg border layer from blue Core'dinations paper and sanded it a bit and then added the top egg layer using watercolour paper and colouring with Distress Stains.  I sprayed over top with some Perfect Pearls mist to create a shimmer.

The nest negative was perfect for creating a stencil inside my card, adding the sentiment from Pretty Cute Stamps - Wish Big set.

Hope you all have a lovely week, and be sure to join us at the Fantabulous Cricut blog to check out the other amazing projects by our talented Design Team.  You can enter your own project there too and have a chance to win a great prize from our sponsor this week!

Happy Crafting!
