Birthday Splash!

Hey there friends!! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend. We had sunshine and rain- but we managed to get out a bit, and even slept in the tent in our backyard Saturday night. The kids loved it, but I don't know if I'd say tenting is my favourite thing, lol.

Today I'm sharing this adorable Mermaid Kisses Digital Stamp set from the Pretty Cute Stamps store that I used to create this card. I opened the mermaid digital stamp in PicMonkey, a free online photo editing program and layered on the present and sentiment before colouring in the background with alcohol based markers.  You could also print out your images and layer them as you wish. Check out the TUTORIAL I created here to show you how easy this is!

I added Stickles and sequins from 28 Lilac Lane and then edged my oval with Versamark and silver embossing powder to add lots of shiny sparkly fun!

Inside, I used the sentiment from the Merman Digital Stamp set.

Here's a look at the digital stamp sets I used:

Stacy's Flip Book!

I recently did a flip book swap with my friend, Stacy, from Alaska, and picked out these fun Project Life cards from the Bloom collection to create it. Here's a look at what I did. For my cover I used a card that had a blank journalling area where I used a nice sentiment stamp that I found at a garage sale last year. I added my friend's name using letters I cut from Tim Holtz paper and added a seam binding ribbon that I coloured with Distress Stains.

Here's a look at the front and back cover opened up. I found that laying down a thin line of tacky glue where I wanted to add the washi tape helped make sure it was going to stay stuck.

Inside, with the two middle flaps folded in I added some stamps and papers as well as a smaller 3x4 journaling card flap.

Here's a look at the flap opened up on the right and the left flap opened. I added a little envelope full of goodies and made a little tag for the front.

When the right side opens there is another journaling card attached along the top edge, and I added some handmade tags to a little journaling card pocket.

I added some stamps snd stickers under that little flap. You can see the tags I tucked into that pocket above, here.

This was such a fun project to do! Have you tried a flip book, and if so what are your tips? If not, grab some 4x6 papers or journaling cards, some washi tape and left over craft supplies and see what you come up with! Hope you have a happy, crafty weekend!

Relax, You're At The Lake!

Hi friends! We've been having a wonderful time relaxing at the lake in Invermere the last couple days! I thought I'd share a Project Life page I put together using the Project Life app, my iPad and the Rhonna Designs app on the trip home. I love being able to access my photos I took on my phone and then make a scrapbook page with them!

I hope you have a relaxing week, whether you're at the lake, or having a bit of crafty fun wherever you can fit it in!

Heartfelt Creations Flowers!

Hey there crafty friends! I recently was so lucky to win a prize of Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies from Why Not Win Wednesday at Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. I have to admit I had never used these awesome sets before, so it was a real treat to play with them! I watched a couple YouTube videos and I was on my way ;)

I started off by first stamping and then diecutting the Blazing Poppy stamps and then cut out the stamped images with the coordinating dies (not shown). I stamped on a red ombre cardstock, but you could use a solid colour cardstock or colour your own with Distress Inks.

I used Distress Ink to ink the back of my stamped image, which I probably didn't have to do, but I wasn't sure if it would show on the finished flower.

I used a stylus to create dimension on my petals, first on the back and then after turning over I rounded them into the middle. I spritzed them with water beforehand - you can notice the reaction from the Distress Ink - to make them more pliable.

I layered the petals together to create two different size flowers and glued them in the centers.

I used some Yellow Izink to add a bit of yellow colour close to the center of the flowers and then used matte medium to glue some pretty beads from 28 Lilac Lane in the centers.

Finally, I added some silver Stickles to my petals and voila - they are ready to go!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you have a lovely crafty week!

FCCB #281 - Anything Goes and PCS Rainy Day Card!

Welcome to another Challenge Me Monday...

Challenge #281 Anything Goes!
Make a project using whatever image or materials you prefer!

This Weeks Sponsor:

Winner will receive one Craftin Desert Diva's stamp set of their choice!
(USA address only)

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

I'm also posting over at the Pretty Cute Stamps blog today, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to combine some sweet stamps and some awesome diecuts! We've had soooo much rain over the past week that I feel like we are swimming. Creating a rainy day card definitely seemed fitting!

I stamped and paper pieced the cute rubber boots, puddle and sunshine from the Pretty Cute Stamps Rain or Shine  stamp set, layering them on top of my diecut raindrop background, cut from the CTMH Artistry Cricut cartridge. There are so many nice diecut backgrounds in this set - one reason why I love it so much! I stamped the sentiment, from the same stamp set, directly onto my background.

I stamped the Rainbow stamp on white cardstock and coloured it in with coloured pencils before layering this adorable little Froggy Umbrella diecut from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons and a cute little rain cloud from the Create A Critter cartridge. I used some Cosmo Cricket paper that I had in my stash for all the paper piecing and diecuts so everything would be coordinated - and I could feel like I was using up some older papers!

Inside, I stamped a sentiment from the Rainbow stamp set, using a Hero Arts Ombre Ink pad, and paper pieced an umbrella from the Rain or Shine stamp set.

Here's a look at the super cute stamp sets I used:

Pretty Cute Stamps July Challenge - Under The Sea!

It's time for a brand new challenge on the Pretty Cute Stamps blog! This month the theme is By The Sea, and with all the amazing new release stamps from June and July you'll be sure to find lots of inspiration to make a lovely sea project!

For my challenge project I chose to make lunch box notes for my 9 year old. I started making her little notes for her lunch in Grade 1, and she loved them so much, kept them in a special box and still sorts through them every once in a while, that I just don't feel right not sending them with her! So, I'm trying to get some done up ahead of time - and using these adorable Sea Ya Soon underwater animal digital stamps was the perfect opportunity! I started off by using some pretty 6x6 papers as a background and then layered on my coloured sea creatures, which I coloured with Prismacolor and Hobby Colour Markers after printing on white cardstock. I love that I can print these out whatever size I want depending on my project.

I used the Otterly Amazing stamp set to add paper pieced hearts and sea shells to my notes and the Sea Life Sentiments stamp set, which is is now available as a digital stamp set, on the back of each card. I heat embossed the words with a pretty green sparkly embossing powder. Below you can see the coordinating sentiment I used on the back of each note. A few pretty sequins from 28 Lilac Lane add some sea sparkle!

Here's a look at these 3 wonderful stamp sets. Don't forget the Otterly Amazing set is still available for a limited time as a clear stamp!

Pretty Cute Stamps July 2016 Digital Stamps New Release!

Thanks so much for joining us for the July 2016 Digital Stamp Release Blog Hop, where we are all sharing projects featuring the new digital stamps this month that are now available in the Pretty Cute Stamps Store.

If you came from the Pretty Cute Stamps blog, you are in the right place. If you just stumbled across this post and would like to start from the beginning, please visit the Pretty Cute Stamps Blog

For my project for the hop, I've used the Beach Babes digital stamp set to create this mixed media card. I love adding dimension and texture to my cards - the bubbly embossing powders I used on the sandy hill (from the Life's a Beach set) and the waves (from the Wave Borders set) definitely add some bling and fun texture. I used a piece of white cardstock as my background, adding a Tim Holtz sunray stencil using yellow Distress Inks. I used the Micro Glaze over the yellow stenciled area so I could then go in with blue Distress Ink without blending the two.

I used Prismacolor and Hobby Colour Markers to colour in my adorable 'Beach Babe' and added a couple tiny beads to her little swimsuit. I just love her cute little flip flops!

The hello diecut is from the Hello Bubbles cutting file over at the PPPR store. I cut off the bubble and added the script directly to my banner where I had printed the Beach Babe sentiment from the digital stamp set.

Inside, I used another sentiment from the set and sponged the edge with Distress Ink.

I used some shiny gold thread to tie through my button, coordinating with the gold sun I created by punching a 1" circle in a piece of paper to create a stencil, adding Versamark Ink and using Gold embossing powder. I glued some tiny yellow and white beads around my sun for an extra bit of bling. The beads and button are from the 28 Lilac Lane collection.
