Hi friends! I sure hope you had an awesome weekend!! We've had record high temps here in Alberta and we have been trying to create a balance between keeping cool, but enjoying the warm weather, and not complaining because soon enough... you know! I'm over on the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies blog today to share a card using our theme this month - Outdoors! I feel like I've done a lot of camping layouts lately, so I wanted to use this awesome Unicorn Stamp from Emerald Creek to create a sunshine and rainbow card - and since I could think of a whole bunch of stamp sets that I could combine to create this card I thought I would use them all together along with some beautiful Emerald Creek Embossing Powders for a wonderful, bright, sunshiny card!
Here's a look at the VIDEO where you can check out the whole process!

Hello! I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! We're back from a little camping trip this week (check out a few pics on my IG HERE) and enjoying gorgeous weather, so that means being busy with the kids. This afternoon they had some backyard kiddie pool time and I had some crafting time sitting on the deck = win-win ;) I decided to join the Your Next Stamp Color Challenge #93 with the YNS Unicorns Rock stamp set using the colour palette you can check out at the bottom of the post. There is also a sketch you can use instead of, or in combination with, the fun colours this week! The colours in this BoBunny paper are so summery and pretty and they matched perfectly, so I started off by using a Waffle Flower Patched Layers rectangle die to cut my background.
I started off by stamping this cutie with Archival black ink on Bristol cardstock - which I just love for watercolouring! I coloured her in with Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers and cut a circle out with a Kaisercraft Stitched Circle Die. I had some extra embroidery floss around so I decided to crochet a tiny flower and add it to a strand of braided floss along with a cute tassel.
I stamped this awesome sentiment, included in the set, with black ink and then stamped the magical stars with Distress Oxides. A few fancy SpiegelMom Scraps Sequins add just a bit more bling along with some yellow Stickles. Don't forget to use the code KARLA15 to save 15% off at the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop!!
Inside, I stamped the scripty Celebrate sentiment from the Whatnot Sentiments 5 set and added a few more coordinating details.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have an awesome, sunshiny and crafty week!
Hi friends! I'm not sure how it got to be Thursday already, but here it is! I always have so many big plans for the week, and even though I do get a lot done, sometimes I wish there were a few more hours in the day 😉 I'm popping in today to share a sweet little unicorn birthday card I made for a little friend of ours recently using the Waffle Flower Stitched Unicorn stamp set. I have always loved cross-stitch, but haven't done any recently, so I was so excited to find this stamp that has the look of stitching with the ease of stamping!
I wanted to try out the technique Tim Holtz has demo'ed recently using Distress Oxides on Glossy Paper. I smooshed my inks on my splat mat, spritzed with water and put my Glossy Paper, glossy side down, onto the ink. I did two or three layers, drying in between.
Next, I used the Distress Micro Glaze and a sponge to add a thin layer of Glaze over top. This seals in the ink and makes the colours pop! I forgot to buff with a dry cloth at the end - so be sure to do that step so your adhesive sticks better!
Here's a look at the video from Creativation where you can see this technique up close -
After I stamped the layers of stamps on the background using Distress Oxide Inks I went back over and added some shimmery embossing powder to the unicorn face. I used the Waffle Flower Patched Layers Die to give the edges of my base another stitched element. I was inspired to do the 'rainbow stamping' after watching Nicole Spohr's video you can see here.
I layered some BoBunny papers and a pretty button over the Distress Oxide Glazed background and added some pretty SpiegelMom Scraps sequins! (Don't forget to use the code KARLA15 to save 15% off all your purchases at the SMS shop!)
Inside, I used two pretty sentiment stamps from Your Next Stamp, combining the Sweet with the Birthday Wishes. I used my stamp positioner to add a rainbow of coloured Distress Oxide Inks by stamping each colour separately.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a crafty, cozy and magical week!
