Free Hugs Repurposed Plant Pot and Video!

Hello! I'm back today to share a sweet little no fuss diecut cactus and DIY plant pot. I really do love having plants in my house, but... and not for lack of trying... they never survive 😢 It is really safer for all those sweet plants out there if I stick to the faux variety, lol. So, I decided to craft a cute cactus from a Cricut cut using my Cricut Explore. Of course, this little guy needed a lovely home, so I repurposed a clay pot I had laying around my house with the Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint System Bare Metal Weathered Bronze. This is a super cool set of 4 paints/mists that combine to create a bronzed metal look. When combined with the clay pot it looks so awesome!

I used the Cricut Cartridge Cactus Love to cut this sweet 3D plant. It is really easy to put together. I added a Prima Flower and a little cork butterfly with some gems and sequins from Buttons Galore. I happened to have a styrofoam cone in my stash and cut it down to fit inside the pot. Instead of leaving it white I added some Tattered Angels Kraft High Impact Paint and then covered it with Emerald Creek's Baked Texture Dirty Sand Embossing Powder by Seth Apter. I love when I can use a product for more than its intended purpose, and this Dirty Sand Powder looks amazingly like sand when it's dry! I just sprinkled it on and glued it down with some tacky glue before adding my cactus.

I've been experimenting with cutting vinyl with my Cricut more - I know, that's not anything new, but for some reason I thought it was harder than it was! I'm really loving it and thought this free hugs was super cute! It's from the Humming In My Garden cartridge.

You can see how everything came together in the full process video HERE or click below:

Thanks so much for stopping by! You can find this project and see what other Crew Members came up with for this fun spring pot challenge over on the Creative Studio Blog. You may just want to create something crafty using some fun pots around your own home!

Wish Layout with Altered Chipboard!

Hello! I sure hope you had an awesome weekend! It was a little drizzly Sunday here so we stayed in our p.j's and did stuff around the house, crafting, a little cleaning... and enjoyed a bit of a lazy day. Today, I'm giving you a look at the layout that I'm sharing on the Southern Ridge Trading Company blog today using their gorgeous chipboard and stencil from the shop. I love this photo of Erica just taking the time to pick up a dandelion and blow the seeds. It reminds me how important it is to take time to connect with nature.

Here's a look at the video where you can see exactly how I altered the chipboard and put everything together:

Hello! Hope you all had a great weekend. We took it easy, did some crafting - of course - and watched some Christmas Classics. Lasting Memories - It's All About The Pink Layout!

Hello! I'm so excited to be joining the Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenge Blog as a Guest Designer for another challenge week! This month the theme is Fall Events, and since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this week our challenge is to create a layout about breast cancer or create a monochromatic pink layout. I am so fortunate that I don't have someone who has suffered from breast cancer in my immediate family, so I decided to create a pink layout in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. These photos are from when my youngest daughter, Erica, now 6, was born and her two older sisters came to meet her! I combined two different pink papers, using the fronts and the backsides and then layered the base on a pink watercolour background.

I decided to use the October Sketchy Challenge from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine and really love how easy it is to create with this sketch! I used some Tattered Angels Light Pink High Impact Paint to paint my cute wood veneer bird embellishment and then sponged pink Distress Ink around the edge. I even used the same pink ink to add a date stamp.

I grabbed a few pink embellishments from my stash and layered them, along with some pretty SpiegelMom Scraps pink sequins. (PS Use the code KARLA15 to save 15% off in the SMS Shop!)

I added a few more embellishments along with bottom of the photos and layered them over a journaling card from a cut apart sheet. You can see the Tattered Angels Tutti Frutti Glimmer Mist I smooshed onto the white cardstock background peeking out from behind the embellishments.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to head over to the Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenge Blog to see what all the other Design Team Members came up with for this challenge, and enter your own for a chance to win. You have all month to enter and four different challenges to participate in. I love that this gives you a jumpstart to scrapbooking Fall Celebrations! I'd love to see what you come up with 💘

I was so excited for this month's Canvas Corp Brands challenge - To The Sea and found these photos of myself at the beach last year on a camping trip. I love how they matched up with the sentiments and fun beach themed supplies I pulled from lots of fun CCB products, which include Canvas Corp, 7gypsies and Tattered Angels. Kitty Bee Designs #118 - For Mom/Feminine!

Hi Friends! I hope you've been having a lovely week so far! I've had lots of fun creating projects lately and here's one more for you!  It's time for the midweek inspiration for Challenge #118 - For Mom/Feminine- over at the Kitty Bee Designs Challenge Blog - Aloha Friday!

Challenge #118

Super big thanks to our sponsor for this challenge

and

Today I'm using the beautiful Sentiment Flower Doodledallion set from Fred She Said Designs, which comes with digital outlines, printables, sentiments and precoloured versions of layers that you can put together in so many ways! I printed out the printable sheet with the square background and several flowers and then I fussy cut each flower to size and sponged on Distress Oxide Inks to give each layer a varied look. I used my new favourite mist - Tattered Angels Chalk Chalkboard Mist, which is a white, semiopaque mist that has a beautiful shimmer, to lightly mist all over my coloured pieces before layering them with foam tape. The Oxide Ink reacts with the mist, but also protects the printed image and my ink did not run at all!

I used a new Altenew Scallop Builder stencil to layer on Ivory and Pink Distress Oxides on a kraft background. These builder stencils are so fun!! Next I cut out various flowers and stems from my Tim Holtz Funky Floral #3 diecut set using supplies from previous Scrapbook & Cards Today Sampler Kits. I added a bit of white gel pen for detail and added some sequins and enamel dots from the kits.

Lastly, I added a cork butterfly from SpiegelMom Scraps, which they sadly don't carry any more, and then layered a wooden butterfly overtop that I altered with Emerald Creek Charred Gold embossing powder. I love how it changed the look!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge to see all the inspiration from the other awesome Design Team members - and enter your own project HERE for a chance to win!! Have a wonderful weekend!

FCCB #325 - Mother’s Day!

Happy Monday and welcome to another FCCB Monday challenge! Well, better late than never 😳...

Challenge #325-Mother's Day
Make a project about Mother's Day.

This Weeks Sponsor

SVGcuts

Create a project inspired by Mother's Day

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images. If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

For this week's challenge I've created a pretty Mother's Day card using the Kim Byers Mother's Day Cricut cartridge in Design Space for the gem diecut and the inside sentiment, free this week 😉and a free card cutfile from SVGcuts - Mia's Card. There are so many amazing freebies to check out from our awesome sponsor!! I first used Canvas Corp Ivory cardstock to cut all my diecut pieces, and then used Distress Inks to create an ombre effect for the background. I sprayed  Tattered Angels Mists and added Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam for lots of pretty shine to the top cut of the card base. If you chose to heat the Glimmer Glam it bubbles, and I love that effect!

I cut the back of the gem from a blue foil paper and then added Emerald Creek Hammered Metal Embossing Powder to the top cut for a lovely metallic effect. I sprinkled SpiegelMom Scraps sequins around for the finishing touch.

Inside, I used a Pretty Cute Stamps Mother's Day sentiment along with the You're A Gem diecut from the Kim Byers cartridge. I cut it out of the vanilla cardstock, sprayed it with Tattered Angels Mists and then gave it a top coat with Emerald Creek Fractured Ice embossing powder. And, in case you're wondering - the background papers I used in my photos are from the 7gypsies Architexures paper line. I love the vintage look they give!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic week ahead!! Be sure to stop over at the Fantabulous Cricut blog to see what the other Design Team members have come up with for this challenge, and enter your own Mother's Day project with at least 1 Cricut cut for a chance to win a fab prize from SVGcuts!
