Paper Doll Canvas with Gyspy Seamstress Papers!

Hello! I am so excited to share a pretty canvas with you that I created for the Canvas Corp Brands blog using the gorgeous 7gypsies Gypsy Seamstress Mixed Media Pad. I love vintage sewing ephemera, and this collection is full of just that! I'm always reminded of my grandmother, who loved to sew and draw my sister and me paper dolls, and this canvas was the perfect combination of those two things! Be sure to check out the video below where you can get a look at exactly what is in this beautiful Mixed Media Pad.

I used Mod Podge to add layers of the pretty papers to a canvas after inking the edges with Distress Oxide Ink, and I created some dimension by using foam tape and curling edges. This cute Julie Nutting paper doll was just perfect to add to the top of the canvas!

I used some Tattered Angels mists to add colour to the rick rack from my stash, and even added a vintage package of the rick rack that I found in my ribbon drawer. A bit of Glossy Accents added a realistic effect to the buttons and snaps I cut from the patterned papers.

Here's a look at everything you get in this beautiful Gypsy Seamstress Mixed Media Pad in the video below!

Canvas Corp Brands - Canvas Challenge!

Good morning! Hope you're all having a fantastic week! I just wanted to give you a peek at a fun challenge on the Creative Studio Blog that the wonderful Crew Members at Canvas Corp Brands were given - to create a project using a piece of Canvas Corp canvas. Now, this was so fun, because there are so many wonderful canvas pieces in the shop!! I chose to work with a Canvas and Burlap Zipper Pouch and you can see here how I added a cross stitch pattern to the burlap side of the bag and then added a stitched banner, Architextures rub-ons, buttons and Tattered Angels mists to the other side!

This little zipper pouch would be perfect as a pencil case, a great place to tuck a gift in, even a makeup bag and I love how you can customize it yourself!

I cut a little rectangle out of canvas and stitched it to a piece of Canvas Corp cording to act as a little zipper pull.

This sweet cactus was so fun to stitch directly on the burlap using a pattern from Cross Stitcher Magazine. I cut a tea cup out of another printed canvas sheet and coloured it with Glimmer Mists to use a little plant pot.

The buttons I chose from my stash add some more texture and interest and match the colours I used. And, in case you're wondering... that background paper is from the Architextures collection!

Here's a look at the VIDEO of all the projects created-

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to head over to Creative Studio Canvas Corp Brands blog where you can see details on so many of these projects and a supply list for my project above - and if you haven't yet checked out that blog you'll definitely want to! There is amazing inspiration all the time!!

Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew Canvas!

Whew, that's almost a tongue twister! Well, I'm so happy to be on the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew again this year!! They are an amazing family owned company and have a wonderful assortment of products. Definitely a dream to be on their design team! Every year the DT gets to create a 4x4 canvas using the beautiful products from CCB - which include Tattered Angels, 7gypsies and Canvas Corp Brands. These 4x4 canvases represent each DT member's unique style. One thing I love about CCB is that they don't want everyone fitting into the same box and they celebrate the different talents that each person brings to working with them. This year I wanted to start with a beautiful rub-on from the 7gypsies Architextures Pose Rub-ons. These rub-ons are sooo super cool! They are meant to look like a vintage stamped image, and you can use them on numerous surfaces. I wanted the beautiful texture of the natural canvas to show through so after I applied the face rub-on I used various Tattered Angels translucent Mists to paint in my face and background.

I used some of the 7gypsies Architextures Short Base Doily Stickers (a wonderful product you can use as a stencil, a sticker, you can alter....) to the corners of my canvas and glued on a pretty Little Birdie Crafts butterfly.

I used one of the gorgeous 7gypsies Architextures stickers and added a rub-on sentiment. This girl stickers was a Michaels Exclusive! Some Little Birdie Crafts glitter was glued around the canvas for a little more sparkle.

These pretty canvas flowers from Little Birdie Crafts were just perfect to spray with the Tattered Angels Mists. I added touches of gold to the leaves as well and layered them on the canvas.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! You can find the link to all the Crew's fantastic creations HERE, and just by clicking on the 4x4 pics you can find your way to each person's blog. You might just discover someone new to follow, and a lot of great inspiration!

Emerald Creek Craft Supplies - Easter Canvas and DIY Enamel Embellishments!

Hi friends! I'm so excited to bring you my first Design Team post for the Emerald Creek blog!! Emerald Creek is an amazing Canadian company who ships internationally with fabulous stamps, metal embellishments and more, but one of their most amazing products is the embossing powders they make! Our theme this month is Easter, so I decided to create a gorgeous Easter Canvas using the beautiful stamps and powders and some diecuts and stenciling.

Today I'm sharing two videos - the first is a look at how to make some beautiful DIY Enamel Embellishments using the Baked Texture Vintage Beeswax Embossing Powder. This is part of a new release at Creativation in January and is a collaboration between Emerald Creek and Seth Apter of the Altered Page. You will not be disappointed when you play with these powders!

Here's a look at the video where you can see the process I use to create several DIY Enamel Embellishments that would be perfect on any type of project!

I coloured the stamps with Prismacolor and Hobby Color Markers, both alcohol based before adding the Vintage Beeswax Embossing Powder.

This little raccoon is so sweet!!

I love how the the embossing powder creates such a cool coating on top and on the edges of the stamped images.

Here's the video where I show you the process of how I create the full Easter Canvas-

The embossing powders come in such a wide variety of colours and textures. I love the glossy effects!

I used the Distress Resist Spray and a sunray stencil to adhere the Charred Gold embossing powder - so fun!

One of my favourite things about this canvas is the way the Easter eggs turned out using an embossing folder, different coloured powders and covering them all with Fractured Ice embossing powder!

And, I love the little fairy tucked in ;) This beautiful Lily stamp would be the perfect addition to any Easter and Spring card as well!

SpiegelMom Scraps - Coffee Canvas!

Hi friends! I'm posting on the SpiegelMom Scraps blog today and sharing this cool coffee canvas I painted while my girls & I were at Michaels recently. We dropped in and Michaels was providing the paint when you purchased a canvas. I opened Pinterest and found a coffee sign I liked and just hand sketched it and started painting! I think when you don't overthink it and just have fun with some things they end up being some of the things you like the best. And, of course, because I LOVE coffee, I love how this turned out! 💙

Here's a look at what my girlies painted - and how the canvas looked before I added the words and awesome SpiegelMom Scraps Aquarius Sequin Mix! Amie painted a sunset, and Erica painted popsicles with ears!

Gifts For Baby Emily!

On November 24th my baby sister, Rayme, had a beautiful baby girl - after a very long and hard labour. She deserves a medal for all she went through! I am a very proud Auntie of new little Emily - and I think she's gorgeous!!

(And, I finally downloaded the Pic, Tap, Go app (that I used to brighten this pic up) and love it! Can't believe I waited so long to get it!!) So, of course I needed to send Miss Emily some handmade gifts and thought I'd share them with you too! I had this cute quilt topper in my fabric stash and didn't even realize it had the same images that are in the Kate's ABC's Cricut cartridge!

I cut lots of images from this adorable Kate's ABC's cartridge and Mod Podged them onto a canvas background covered with a background of patterned papers. The sunshine and clouds are from a Miss Kate Cuttables SVG download and I welded the diecut letters before cutting them out. After I glued all my images down I traced around them with a black pen and used some brown Distress Marker to watercolour in some shading. A bit of white gel pen and some stencilled glittery hearts add the finishing touch.

Since the quilt top was narrow and could have been used for a wallhanging, I decided to add a strip of pink fabric on each side to create a crib quilt size. I used some coordinating flannel fabric for the back of the quilt. Here's Erica showing it off! She was very excited to have a new cousin :)

And lastly, I had to make one of these adorable little crocheted Froggy Security Blankets from some pretty, soft baby yarn! I made one of these for Erica before she was born and she still sleeps with it. <3

My sister, Rayme, got our package the day before she went into labour. I'm happy to say both mom and baby are healthy and happy and we are so pleased to have another little member in our family! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you're enjoying these last few days leading up to the big day.

Splatter Birthday Canvas by Amie!

Amie, my 9 year old, has become quite the little crafter! She attended a birthday party this weekend and wanted to add a homemade gift to the gift she purchased for her friend, and this is what she came up with!

She started off with a blank canvas and some Dylusions Ink Sprays. She created the splatter effect by taking the nozzle out of the bottle and tapping until she achieved the desired amount of splat!

How fun are these bright dots of colour?! She then Mod Podged on a diecut initial cut from some ombré cardstock and a cute little grasshopper cut from the Cricut Explore, since her friend loves grasshoppers.

She added the fun Spring Blooms Sequins from Spiegelmom Scraps to add some shine!

Here she is proudly displaying her project with her sister, Erica. I just love that they love being crafty! And her friend loved her gift!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a lovely week!
