Free Hugs Repurposed Plant Pot and Video!

Hello! I'm back today to share a sweet little no fuss diecut cactus and DIY plant pot. I really do love having plants in my house, but... and not for lack of trying... they never survive 😢 It is really safer for all those sweet plants out there if I stick to the faux variety, lol. So, I decided to craft a cute cactus from a Cricut cut using my Cricut Explore. Of course, this little guy needed a lovely home, so I repurposed a clay pot I had laying around my house with the Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint System Bare Metal Weathered Bronze. This is a super cool set of 4 paints/mists that combine to create a bronzed metal look. When combined with the clay pot it looks so awesome!

I used the Cricut Cartridge Cactus Love to cut this sweet 3D plant. It is really easy to put together. I added a Prima Flower and a little cork butterfly with some gems and sequins from Buttons Galore. I happened to have a styrofoam cone in my stash and cut it down to fit inside the pot. Instead of leaving it white I added some Tattered Angels Kraft High Impact Paint and then covered it with Emerald Creek's Baked Texture Dirty Sand Embossing Powder by Seth Apter. I love when I can use a product for more than its intended purpose, and this Dirty Sand Powder looks amazingly like sand when it's dry! I just sprinkled it on and glued it down with some tacky glue before adding my cactus.

I've been experimenting with cutting vinyl with my Cricut more - I know, that's not anything new, but for some reason I thought it was harder than it was! I'm really loving it and thought this free hugs was super cute! It's from the Humming In My Garden cartridge.

You can see how everything came together in the full process video HERE or click below:

Thanks so much for stopping by! You can find this project and see what other Crew Members came up with for this fun spring pot challenge over on the Creative Studio Blog. You may just want to create something crafty using some fun pots around your own home!

Paper Doll Canvas with Gyspy Seamstress Papers!

Hello! I am so excited to share a pretty canvas with you that I created for the Canvas Corp Brands blog using the gorgeous 7gypsies Gypsy Seamstress Mixed Media Pad. I love vintage sewing ephemera, and this collection is full of just that! I'm always reminded of my grandmother, who loved to sew and draw my sister and me paper dolls, and this canvas was the perfect combination of those two things! Be sure to check out the video below where you can get a look at exactly what is in this beautiful Mixed Media Pad.

I used Mod Podge to add layers of the pretty papers to a canvas after inking the edges with Distress Oxide Ink, and I created some dimension by using foam tape and curling edges. This cute Julie Nutting paper doll was just perfect to add to the top of the canvas!

I used some Tattered Angels mists to add colour to the rick rack from my stash, and even added a vintage package of the rick rack that I found in my ribbon drawer. A bit of Glossy Accents added a realistic effect to the buttons and snaps I cut from the patterned papers.

Here's a look at everything you get in this beautiful Gypsy Seamstress Mixed Media Pad in the video below!

Watercolour Valentine Cards!

Hello and Happy Valentines Day 💓!! We are still in the midst of a cold snap here in Calgary, so we are celebrating with crafts inside today and of course a little chocolate 😉🍫 I'm sharing a pair of pretty watercolor Valentines on the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Studio Blog using some Tattered Angels Mists and Tattered Angels Mini Origins papers. These papers are great for watercolouring and have a fabric-like texture - so cool!

I stitched around the edges of the watercolour panel to give even more texture. Since I was featuring the coffee themed mini origins papers I chose coffee love stamps from my stash!

I added some watercolour diecuts misted with the Tattered Angels sprays and used Glossy Accents to highlight various areas of the cards.

Canvas Corp Brands - Christmas Blog Hop!

Hello friends! I am so excited to be participating in the Canvas Corp Brands Christmas Blog Hop today!! If you aren't familiar with Canvas Corp Brands, this wonderful company owns Canvas Corp, Tattered Angels and 7gypsies - three amazing companies themselves with beautiful, well made and trending products.  There is such an awesome assortment of goodies in the CCB Shop you'll have no problem choosing just the right products for your own projects! Today, I'm sharing a lovely Christmas Apron, and I can't wait to show you. 🎄 I started off by using one of the pre-sewn Canvas Corp canvas aprons. They are a great sturdy material and perfect to customize for any holiday or some special person on your Christmas Gift List!

I gathered a piece of the pretty blue ticking fringe and sewed it along the top of the apron.

I grabbed a pre-sewn canvas flower and sprayed it with Rose Gold Glimmer Mist and then added a cute reindeer button. I attached it to the apron with a safety pin so I could remove it if I needed to.

The Tattered Angels High Impact Paints were perfect to paint in the cute reindeer from an iron on transfer I found at Michaels. It looks so vintage and they remind me of the transfers I used to paint on as a kid!

Tattered Angels High Impact Paint: Kraft, Green, Rose Gold, Light Blue, White

Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew Challenge - Think Pink!

Hello! I sure hope you've had an awesome week 💗 Mine was great, but flew by so fast! Today I'm sharing a pretty gift bag for my daughter's teacher. Her birthday was today and Amie, who is 11, just adores her.  She's had an amazing school year so far - isn't that awesome when that happens?!! Amie even went in early with some class mates to decorate the classroom and the teacher was so surprised and thought it was very sweet. This gift bag goes along with our Pink Theme for our Crew Challenge this month on the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Studio blog in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

I fussy cut a lovely tea pot from the printed Bags and Beans Canvas sheet and painted it with the Tattered Angels Mists. I then added some French knot embroidery stitches and glued it down with tacky glue. I used the Tattered Angels Mists on a piece of plastic packaging to add a ‘smooshed’ effect to the canvas bag as well as the Happy Birthday tag and then used the Mists again to colour the seam binding ribbon to match.

I was able to stamp directly onto the white paper mini bag using Archival ink and a fabulous coffee stamp from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies, designed by Pam Bray. I then used the Tattered Angels Mists and paints to add colour to the image. The bag is the perfect size to slip a gift card into.

I tucked the decorated mini bag into the tiny tote and added a happy birthday tag for a very special gift card presentation. A few sparkly SpiegelMom Scraps sequins and a pretty pink handmade flower from Little Birdie Crafts finish it off.

Canvas Corp Brands - Fall Blog Hop!

Hello Friends! Thank you so much for stopping by today. You are in for a treat! Today I am participating in a MEGA BLOG HOP!!!!!! There are 18 fantastic designers world wide that have come together to showcase terrific fall projects that you can recreate and put your own artistic touches on in your craft room. You have seen a lot of these designers featured on The Canvas Corp Brands blog using Tattered Angels, 7 Gypsies and and Canvas Corp products! Do you see a trend? This is the CCB Fall Blog HOP! Each of these designers have created a project to share with you on their blog. Some are offering prizes - including me! so please hop on through to each blog. If you are inspired we would love if you would share the hop with others 💓 We would truly appreciate it!

For my project for this fabulous fall hop I’ve created a pretty autumn wreath using some dollar store goodies I upcycled with lots of fun products from the Canvas Corp Brands Shop. Fall is my favourite season! I can’t help getting excited about the fall colours, sweater weather, and Pumpkin Spice everything!

Here are the steps I used to create my fall wreath:

I sprayed a white dollar store grapevine wreath with Tattered Angels Rose Gold and Woven Burlap Glimmer Mists and let dry. Then I glued strips of Canvas Corp burlap around, using hot glue to attach the ends.

Next, I sprayed faux leaves and berries (dollar store finds) with Golden Lime and the Rose Gold Glimmer Mists and the acorns and pinecones with the Woven Burlap and Dark Vintage Green Glimmer Mists. The mica in the mists gave the fall foliage a lovely shimmer and shine and adds such a nice effect!

I sprayed the Tattered Angels Mixed Media Mini Origins 'The Vines' paper with various colours of Glimmer Mists and then fussy cut them out. This mixed media paper is just amazing to work with - so thick and perfect with water mediums. I added some Emerald Creek Thanksgiving Embossing Powder to parts of the leaves and heat embossed to add even more glittery goodness and added a bit of ink around the edges.

I finished off the wreath by gathering some Canvas Corp Red Hemp Rope into a circle and hot gluing it to the wreath, adding all my glimmered elements and some pretty Little Birdie Crafts handmade flowers. This wreath came together nice and quick and I just love how it turned out!

Here are a few closeups:

Canvas Corp Brands - Lost In Translation Twist & Pop Card!

Hi friends! I hope you've had a wonderful week - I can't believe how fast it's flown by! Today I'm sharing a twist & pop card created for the Canvas Corp Brands Crew Challenge - Lost In Translation. Every month we have a challenge open to the Design Team and as soon as I saw the theme of this one I had an idea of what I wanted to create. Our challenge was to use a word that was not from our native language, so I chose Arigato, and the Japanese symbols that mean the same thing, which translate into Thank You in English.

I layered 7gypsies papers, the Tattered Angels mushroom painted with glimmer mists and preprinted flowers fussy cut from Canvas Corp's Compose Your Life paper on my card base and then heat embossed the sentiment from Pretty Cute Stamps Sushi Sentiments stamp set on a kraft Canvas Corp tag sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

Inside, I followed the directions from a previous Twist & Pop Card video HERE and added more fun crafty goodies from the Canvas Corp Brands shop. I always love the magic that happens when I open up these cards!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to head over to the Creative Studio Blog to see what other crafty Crew Members came up with and get a list of all the supplies I used. Wishing you a very happy crafty week ahead friends!
