Scrapping Everyday Miracles - October Challenge!

Time for another challenge over at the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog!!

This month my project is following the awesome layout sketch designed by our very own Design Team member, Bev!

I used a paper pack from the Echo Park Capture Life for most of my layout - I love the coordinating stickers and cut apart sheet! For my niece's Superhero birthday (you can see more photos of that here) my youngest daughter wanted to be the Hulk! I love that she thinks Hulk is cooler than Cinderella!

I layered on a square from the cut apart sheet and tucked it under part of the journaling card by cutting carefully with a craft knife. Some black pen stitching and a little Glossy Accents add some extra details!

I love this View Master sticker! I used some Glossy Accents to make the tiny photos in the reel pop.

These awesome jounaling cards from the CTMH Picture My Life 'Later Sk8r' collection were perfect for this layout! I love using them on traditional layouts as well as in my pocket pages!

You can find more collections from Picture My Life here!

Be sure to head over the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog to see what our other talented Design Team members have come up with and enter your own project based on the Layout Sketch, Card Sketch or Scripture Inspiration (or all three!)

Have a wonderful week, and thanks for joining me today!!

Stenciled Tag Tutorial!

I'm posting today over at the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog and I'm sharing this Prima Doll Tag as a tutorial!

I first started by cutting a tag the size I wanted and then pulled out some stencils and Distress Inks.

I used more Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and a Tim Holtz butterfly stamp to stamp a light image on the bottom left of my tag.

For my ribbon I used some seam binding ribbon and rubbed Distress Stains directly onto it, then I spritzed lightly with water and crumpled the ribbon with my fingers before drying with my heat gun. This blends some of the colours and crinkles it nicely.

Now, it was time to create the Prima Paper Doll that I wanted to use on the tag! I'm really liking the way these dolls look stamped on a script paper, so I stamped my doll directly onto the script paper shown in the picture below and then used a light peach Prismacolor Marker, which is alcohol based, to colour in the face and skin areas.

I used the yellow floral paper, from the CTMH  Brushed Paper Collection to paper piece her hair and paper from the Crate Paper Flea Market Maggie Holmes paper pad for her clothes. I also used journaling cards from the Picture My Life CTMH Skylark Collection to layer behind the doll.

I added some paper flowers and gems to my tag and a couple layers of ribbon along the bottom of the tag.

I wanted to add a quote, so I used the Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers, cut apart to fit inside a frame I diecut with a Spellbinder's Die. I traced around the quote with a black pen and added a heart sequin to finish it off.

I love this quote - it reminds me that my day is so much better when I take a few minutes to think of what I'm thankful for first thing in the morning. Then, instead of focusing on anything that might be negative I'm feeling happy about those big and little things that make life amazing!

Thanks so much for joining me today! Don't forget to stop over to the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog to see all the amazing posts this month and join in our awesome challenges for your chance to win a prize!! You still have a few more days left to enter your project!

Happy Anniversary!

My anniversary is coming up in a couple months and it will be our 10th! Holy cow, time does fly! I was sorting through some CTMH Picture My Life cards last night and came across some of the Skylark collection cards from my friend, Sheri Ballantyne - and I just had to stop and make this card. It seriously only took me about 20 minutes to put it all together!

I layered a small 3x4 journalling card on top of a 4x6 one after sponging the edges with Distress Ink. Then I layered a piece of cardstock and ribbon diagonally following the sketch over at Mojo Monday this week.

I stamped the typewriter stamp from the April Stamp Of The Month with the Happy Anniversary type inside the paper and popped it up on foam dots.

My daughter felt the photo needed a little shot of her Superhero popsicle stick craft ;) I love that these cards look like they are layered with papers and stamps and sentiments already!

I used Crystal embossing powder to add some glittery shimmer to the wet Distress ink before cutting it out. I love that Distress Ink stays wet a little longer so I can add embossing powders to it!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you're having an awesome Friday and get to enjoy a little crafty time this weekend! You can check out the special goodies Sheri has at her CTMH site and start making your own projects!

Project Life Weeks 12 & 13!

Wow, can't believe it's the May Long Weekend already (here in Canada)! The school year has flown and we are in the home stretch. It is true that as you get older the time seems to fly so quickly. I think that's one reason I'm really enjoying PL this year - I can focus on the little details each week that I would otherwise forget.

I used the Project Life app to print a lot of the journalling cards using the 'Playful Edition' set. On the bottom left I've layered one of these cute animal cards over a CTMH Picture My Life card and added some handwritten journalling on the side. I love the layered look of the PML cards!

I used another CTMH Picture My Life card in the pocket in the top left of this page, layering on some Maggie Holmes die cuts. Some text from the Rhonna Designs app adds a little playfulness to my photos as well. The thin CTMH washi tape on the bottom left card is so awesome!

I used more of the 'Playful Edition' cards for Week 13 and the Rhonna Designs app for the combo card/picture of the March Tim Holtz Tag I created. I like being able to collage the two 3x4 pics in the Project Life app and have the option of cutting them to put into my smaller pockets or leaving them as a 4x6.

I used a whole page for my St. Paddy's themed pics - I had a vintage looking photo that I cut to fit into my pocket, layering it on a green piece of patterned paper from the Forever Young BoBunny collection. The green heart paper in the bottom left pocket is from the same collection - one of those paper packs that you know you should probably get two of!

I used some older patterned paper from my stash in the top pockets of this layout and tried to separate the two different events that were happening on this page - Our dino visit at the mall on the top half and a family dinner on the bottom half - by keeping my patterns and colours separate. This gorgeous journalling card on the bottom right is from the 'Laughing Lola' Picture My Life CTMH set - I think this is one of my fav sets!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you have time to do what you love this weekend - take some time for yourself, relax and make yourself happy! Don't forget to check out the Bimini Moose blog current challenge going on right now - and enter your own anything goes scrapbook project for a chance to win a super sweet cut file!

Bimini Moose Scrapbook Challenge - AG with optional twist: Family Favourites!

Happy Tuesday! I'm back today to bring you another Pocket Scrapbooking challenge over at BIMINI MOOSE!

Our challenge this time is...
Pocket Scrapbooking - ANYTHING GOES
with an optional twist Family Favourites!
For the next 2 weeks, we want to see pages all about your FAMILY FAVORITES. You could ask each member of your family a list of questions like: Fav Color, Food, Friend, etc. OR you could pick one Favorite Category and then show pictures of each member of your family showing or doing their favorite. Like, What's your Favorite way to spend Saturday? Husband - Fishing; Wife - Scrapbooking; Son - Playing XBox; Daughter - Sleepovers with friends. These are just examples. We want to see how you interpret this Twist and what kind of page you create! Can't wait to see your FAMILY FAVORITES!

Our challenges run for 2 weeks. This one will close on Mon, May 25 @ Noon Eastern time - giving us time to pick a Top 3 for the post the following day with our Next Challenge.

We will also be choosing one winner per challenge to win a cut file from our amazing sponsor -
These files are perfect to include in your Pocket Scrapbooking Layouts and in your other crafting as well.

For the challenge this week I've created a traditional scrapbook layout to go along with my Week 11 pages showcasing our family's fav ice cream treats! I just had to get out my Gelatos and 'sprinkle' some Dylusions sprays on my page - so I chose to use my PL pics and supplies on a 12x12 page.

I used the Pretty Cute Stamps set Just Chill to stamp and colour all of these 'sweet' treats! This is one of my favourite sets!! They look so yummy :)

This pocket page card is from the Picture My Life Collection 'Laughing Lola' from CTMH! Isn't it awesome?! I stamped a sentiment from the PCS Just Chill stamp set along with some drips directly onto the card. In the background I scribbled on Gelatos and wiped them with a baby wipe to smudge them a bit without getting my cardstock too wet. Then I dripped on some Dylusions Inks by taking the spray nozzle out of the bottle and flicking it onto my page in a few different colours. I love this effect!

I coloured the popsicles with Distress and Tombow markers right onto regular white cardstock and then used a bit of white gel pen to add highlights. After everything was done I used some Stickles to add shimmer to the drips.

Here's a peek at the awesome Pretty Cute Stamp set I used - just in time for summer!
Just Chill
And, on to my Week 11 pages! I printed out some of the Project Life cards from the app when I printed my pics and added some text to my photos with the Rhonna Designs app.

The sentiment on the photo of the octopus balloon is from the Sea Life Sentiments from Pretty Cute Stamps. I also added lots of paper diecuts in little areas around my pages.

I added in a paper mask I had cut on my Cricut for a birthday party prop and used more 'love' stamps from Pretty Cute Stamps on the green banner at the bottom of the page (Little Llama & Be Mine). Since I had lots of birthday pics to include on my page I collaged them in the PL app and printed them into two 4x6 prints.

Be sure to pop over to Bimini Moose and check out the rest of the DESIGN TEAM and what they have created to inspire you to play along. Abandoned Coral Card!

I was so inspired by the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog this week and their challenge to use one of the new Distress colours, Abandoned Coral, that I simply had to pull out my supplies and make this card!

I added some CTMH washi tape (love!!), which you can see in the image below - it comes in a 3 pack "Carnival Collection" set and some of the enamel 'Flamingo' dots again from CTMH!

Distress Stains were used to colour the background of my card using a piece of watercolour paper, which I spritzed with Perfect Pearls to give it some shine.

I stamped a Tim Holtz Blueprint crab stamp on this Picture My Life journalling card from CTMH in the Surf's Up Collection and then stamped it again on a piece of white cardstock. I coloured the white crab with the Abandoned Coral Distress Marker and then layered it on top of the Surf's Up card with a little shiny gold thread between. I absolutely love the colours in this collection!

Inside, I stamped a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp with Abandoned Coral Distress Ink.

Thanks so much for joining me today! Be sure to pop over to my friend, Sheri Ballantyne's Close To My Heart site  to have a look at all the fun products available, and have an awesome, crafty weekend! (p.s. Happy Mother's Day to all you moms too!)

Pocket Pages and a Card with Picture My Life Skylark!

I just discovered Picture My Life Scrapbooking cards through Close To My Heart, and I'm so excited!! My lovely friend, Sheri Ballantyne sent me some amazing 4x6 and 3x4 pocket page cards recently and I couldn't wait to use them. They really are gorgeous! My only dilemma was deciding which side of the card to use, lol!

I put together this pocket page from our family hike at a nearby Provincial Park and the Skylark cards matched my theme perfectly! I used some We R Memory Keepers page protectors and added my pics and journalling cards. I layered on some Simple Stories mini cards, some circles punched with a 1" circle punch and used some retired CTMH papers and stamps.

I just love the look of these cards - the layered look adds so much interest to the page!

Here's a close up of some of the cards - I used a 4x6 one on the top, layering a bingo card and circle, and a 3x4 one below it that I stamped with a You Are My Sunshine CTMH stamp in Vintage Photo Distress Ink and layered it on top of some patterned paper.

Isn't the sentiment on this card wonderful?!

And, I just couldn't stop myself!! so I made a quick card using this Friend journalling card from the Skylark collection!!

I usually spend hours on a card and this literally took me 10 minutes! What a great idea for another way to use these amazing cards ;)

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you're inspired to pull out your journalling cards and create. If you want to check out Sheri's website that would be awesome - the May Stamp Of The Month would be perfect for scrapbookers! You can also find her at her blog Sheri Says Just Scrap It!
