SpiegelMom Scraps - May Blog Hop!!

I am so so super excited to announce I've joined the SpiegelMom Scraps Design Team! I've known Jody from SMS for a while now and she is such an amazing person with a fabulous small business that I've loved supporting. I am so honored to be chosen as one of her DT members and have to pinch myself that I get to work alongside such other talented, lovely ladies using such fantastic products!

Now, a little about me - I am a mom of 3 beautiful girls - ages 29, 10 and 5! I love creating and whether it's cardmaking, scrapbooking or home decor (and a little crochet) I'm always busy. I love involving my girls and seeing how they use crafty supplies in new and creative ways. I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada, but I grew up on the East Coast of Canada in Nova Scotia - so I'll always be a Maritime Girl at heart ;) If you've followed my blog you probably know I LOVE using SMS Sequins! To me, they are like sprinkles on the icing on a cake - fun, pretty and delicious! I'll be sharing a Creative Card feature at the SpiegelMom Scraps blog this year, so be sure to follow along so you don't miss any of the awesome creations I've got in mind!

It's time for our May 1st blog hop, and if you've arrived from Marie's blog you are in the right place! If you want to start from the beginning, then head over to the SpiegelMom Scraps blog. There is a $20 Gift Certificate available to be won for one random commenter, so be sure to leave a comment on all the blogs!

For my project today I've created a Twist and Pop card. I've seen so many wonderful designs and wanted to try one myself using some of the awesome new supplies I just ordered from the SpiegelMom Scraps store! I wanted to go for a spring colour theme so I chose the pretty Pandora's Ombre, What's Up Buttercup and You Are My Sunshine sequin mixes along with the Shooting Cork Stars, Cork Confetti Butterflies and Raspberry Burlap String on my card.

I chose a cute Gorjuss Girl in a tea cup stamp and used watercolour paper along with my Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers to colour in the images. I added a little tag to my removable tea bag, which I decorated with pretty star cork and sequins and attached to a belly band.

A while ago I got a Heartfelt Creations Christmas paper pad that had a lot of purple and blue papers in it and I thought it would be great to incorporate these colours into my spring card! I definitely don't see Christmas when I look at this card, so it was a neat way to get more use out of this pretty paper pad.

I love the 'twist and pop' motion of this card! I'm sure whoever gets this card is going to be intrigued!

I absolutely love the colours in these sequin mixes and the sweet little flowers included! I love using sequins inside my card too to decorate!

After taking off the tea and band this card can be propped up and looks just as lovely!

If you'd like to download the dimensions, just click on the picture below to save it to your computer.

Gorjuss Fox Fall Tags!

Hi there! I hope all my Canadian friends had a Happy Thanksgiving! We had a lovely meal Sunday with family and of course too much yummy dessert, which was sooo good! I think the best is leftovers though - and turkey soup!! Ok, now that we`re all hungry, I`ll show you some cute Fall tags I created for a Happy Mail swap using some small manilla tags, Distress Inks and the cute foxes from one of the Gorjuss Girls stamp sets. I realized that for some reason I must have changed the colour of the first two photos in the editing :0, but the last photo shows the true colours of the tags! Sorry about that! I started by stamping the foxes onto kraft cardstock and colouring them in with coloured pencils before fussy cutting them out.

I sponged on some Antique Linen and Ripe Persimmon Distress Paints through some stencils and then inked over top with Distress Inks. Because the paints create a resist it looks as if they`re popping through the inks - love this effect!

I layered on some stamps from the same set, used some Vintage Photo Distress Ink and added a few extra stencils and then stamped the stars from the set with Versamark Ink and added Gold Embossing Powder. Lastly I pasted on my cute foxes and added some hemp twine from the SpiegelMom Scraps Store! Be sure to use the code MOVE35 for 35% off your order there until Oct 30th!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I hope you have an awesome week!

Mini Gorjuss Girl Cards!

I just love the Gorjuss Girl stamps, so of course I was so excited to see the mini Gorjuss Girl stamps come out too! While we were away a week ago I brought along some stamps and Distress and Tombow Markers and had some fun watercolouring and paper piecing these images so that when I got home I could make up some cards.

This is one of my favourite stamps of these mini stamps! The little teddy bear is just so sweet :) I was fortunate enough to receive these pretty papers and embellishments in a recent Happy Mail swap, and they worked perfectly to put these cards together.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you are a Canadian shopper, be sure to check out the Scrapendipity Online Store - and if you're in Calgary be sure to head over to the NEW Scrapendipity store Selena just opened!! You can find out all the details on the Scrapendipity Way Of Life blog. Wishing you a wonderful, crafty week!

FCCB #270 - Monochromatic!

Welcome to another Challenge Me Monday...

Challenge #270-Monochromatic
Make a project using a monochromatic color scheme

This Weeks Sponsor:

Craft Classes Online
The winner will receive one free class (up to $25!)

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

For my project, I used the Elegant Edges cartridge to create this sweet pink scalloped frame and the Tie The Knot cartridge for the Love, Ring and Flower (on the envelope) cuts. It was my niece's wedding shower last weekend and I wanted a pretty, girly card for her. I recently picked up this very cute mini Gorjuss Girl stamp and thought this would work perfectly! I used some Distress Ink smooshed on a craft mat and spritzed with water to colour my seam binding ribbon before tying it around the diamond ring. A bit of Glossy Accents added some shine to the pink diamond.

After I watercoloured my image using variations of pink Distress and Tombow Markers, I used a Heidi Swapp stencil and spread on some translucent texture paste that I had coloured with some pink Distress Ink.

Inside, I added a hand lettered sentiment with my Cricut Calligraphy pen and used the same heart stencil to add some light pink Distress Ink stencilled hearts inside and on the envelope. I had cut the pretty pink flower, but didn't end up using it on the card, so I thought it would look nice on the envelope!

Thanks so much for joining me today! Now, I need to start thinking about a wedding card!

Paper Pieced Tea Cup Girl!

I just love this sweet little Gorjuss Girl!! So much so that I simply had to make another card, this time paper piecing the tea cup and dress and adding some watercolouring with Distress Markers. I have been meaning to sew on my paper forever!! and I finally did it! It was really so easy - I'm not sure why I didn't do it before, lol! After I stitched around my edges and applied the papers to my card I gently bent the edges up to give the card some dimension. I will definitely be doing this again :)

I followed the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches (shown below). Here's a close up of this sweet girl!

Inside I stamped this sweet little bunny and coloured him in with coloured pencils. I added the end of the banner I had hand cut from the front of the card. I added the cute tag that comes with this stamp set onto the Gorjuss Girl preprinted envelope and added a bit of shading with coloured pencils. All ready to give to a friend!

Thanks so much for joining me today! If you want to see another card featuring this cute stamp set click here. I hope you had a great week and get some crafty time for yourself this weekend.

Drink Me, Tea Cup Card!

I'm posting over at the Scrapendipity Way of Life Blog today and thought I'd share a card made with a sweet stamp I picked up from the Scrapendipity Truck at the make 'n take last week. I just love the Gorjuss Girl stamps and had to have this little one in a tea cup!

I stamped on watercolour paper with Archival Ink and then used Distress Markers to watercolour my image in and used some Teresa Collins papers for my background, matching my markers to the papers.

Inside, I added this single sweet little bunny, which I also watercoloured. A little Abandoned Coral Distress Marker adds a little touch of pink to his ears and cheeks.

This card and the colours remind me of Spring - and I seem to be thinking more and more that I am ready for winter to be over!

Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you have a lovely, crafty week!

Oh So Lovely Gorjuss Girl!

I`m back today with a card for the Scrapendipity blog featuring the Oh So Lovely collection from Kaisercraft and using the supplies from the Scrapendipity kit as well as a Gorjuss Girl image I had in my stash.

I used some of the woodgrain 12x12 paper and cut it to fit a 5x7 card and then layered on my watercoloured image of this sweet Gorjuss Girl. I used a Kaisercraft diecut tag, a sweet butterfly and some paper strips cut from the collection.

To watercolour this cutie I used the Julie Nutting hair and skin tone Prima Watercolor Pencils (Oh My Gosh they are amazing to use!!) for her face and hair and then Distress and Tombow Markers to watercolour in the rest.

Love the diecuts that are in the Oh So Lovely collection!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you have a very crafty and awesome week!
