Today I'm using a little bit of everything from our new release to create a gift card holder and bookmark set! I decided to start off with the adorable images from SAVE MY PLACE. This bookworm is seriously cute!! I added some googly eyes to his little glasses for even more fun!

I used my gelli plate and the gorgeous New SOFT SAGE ink refill and STUDY BUDDY Stencil to create a fun background for the gift card holder diecut. Some pretty P13 paper was just right for paper piecing the awesome book stamp and I stamped a sentiment from the set. I created a bookmark from more gelli plate paper and stamped on the adorable reading chameleon and some images from the New PLANNER DOODLES Stamp Set. If you look closely, you'll even see a tiny stack of books I stamped on shrink plastic hanging from the ribbon!!

On the back of the bookmark I had to use one of the amazing New HANDMADE SENTIMENTS stamps, and I added some of the awesome DREAMY DROPS on the holder for the finishing touch! This is going to be wonderful to give with a gift card to a favourite bookstore!

The entire release of stamp sets this month was designed by artist,
Melissa Baker-Nguyen!
The first is called SAVE MY PLACE!

and the second is HANDMADE SENTIMENTS!

The last stamp set is PLANNER DOODLES!

SAVE MY PLACE!

We all have readers in our lives!  This super cute stamp set is perfect for lovers of the written word with lots of fun sentiments and such an assortment of literature lovin' critters!  As you hop around the design team's blogs today you'll be able to check out SAVE MY PLACE! in action in combination with a lot of our other new November Kraftin' Kimmie products!  For my project today I created two watercolour bookmarks - perfect to save the place! Just think how cute these would be tucked into a stocking or a card as an extra gift this holiday season!! I started off by stenciling the amazing images from the NEW STUDY BUDDY Stencil around a masked image of the books and adorable mice. I just love this fabulous stack of books stamp and I know I'll be using it a lot!

I then used some of my watercolours to add a soft blend to the background, books and critters. I added a dashed line around the edges and some glittery Nuvo Drops to add some bling! A coordinating ribbon through the top and my bookmarks are done! My 13 year old has already claimed one - she is never without a book handy!

You will spot our newest addition to the Kraftin' Kimmie Hybrid Ink rainbow!  It's a gorgeous new colour.....called SOFT SAGE!  As always it will be available in full sized ink pads, ink cubes and ink refills!

We've got TWO new Krafty Stencils for this month's release to help add some funky fun to your creations!  They are called STUDY BUDDY and SPLISH SPLASHBoth designs are perfect for all your cards, scrapbook pages, mixed media and more!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles April Challenge!

I hope you've been blessed with warmer Spring weather where you live! We've had some sun and some snow this past week, but I definitely think Spring is on it's way. It is time for the April Challenge at the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog, where you get three chances to play along - the layout sketch, the card sketch and the scripture inspiration!

This month I'm playing along with the Scripture Inspiration, and I came up with this bookmark I created using my Cricut and Distress Inks. There is so much meaning in these 13 words if we stop to take a breath and let God lead the way. Maybe I'll do better remembering this if I glance at this bookmark daily!

I first used a white piece of cardstock that I had wrote the scripture on with my Cricut Explore pen and sponged on 3 colours of Distress Inks. Then, I used a stencil and some Distress Paint on top, and next stamped on a scroll stamp in brown ink.

I used a cross diecut from the Cricut Library and layered it on top of my bookmark. A bit of Abandoned Coral Distress Ink added to the top cut coordinated with the painted stenciled areas.

I used some multicoloured silk ribbon along with some bakers twine fit through the bookmark, which I layered on a black cardstock backing to finish it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you'll check out the SEM blog to see what the other Design Team members have come up with and enter your own project.

Mixed Media Bookmark!

Happy Tuesday! Hope you're week has started off wonderfully - and if not, I hope it gets better from here on in ;)

Today I'm sharing this mixed media bookmark over at the Scrapendipity Way Of Life blog. Recently I joined a swap where a group of ladies made papercrafted items and swapped them. I made these bookmarks for my project!

I started off with a piece of cardstock that came in the size of a bookmark, but you could simply cut the size you'd like. Then, I Mod Podged on a pattern piece - you can find old patterns at most second hand stores and they're great for this! I used Dylusions Spray Mists to spray on a yellow and pink background, which combined to create the orange in the middle - so cool!

I used some stitching stamps and black ink to stamp directly on my background and then stamped and heat embossed the flower and dressform images. Of course I had to use some Distress Sprays to spritz my seam binding ribbon and then put it through a hole I punched with my Crop-O-Dile and added an eyelet to. On the back I stamped a fun stamp with some Kaleidoscope Ink to create a graduated green image and signed the bottom.

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope this inspires you to create a fun bookmark for your own books or as a gift for someone :)

Online Card Class Background Check - Resist Bookmark!

I just love all the backgrounds I'm completing in the Online Card Class, Background Check! I just had to go ahead and create this fun bookmark using one of the Resist Backgrounds I made.

I also got some new fun accessories for the Prima Paper Doll stamp by Julie Nutting, Marisol and paired with some Maggie Holmes Crate Paper 6x6 paper it seemed like the perfect combination to create this sweet bookmark.

Here's my resist background - The script paper in the background is what I started with. I stamped over it with the flower stamp and Versamark Ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. After it cooled I blended Distress Ink over my background.

Here are these super sweet coordinating Prima stamps! I can't wait to try the bunny slippers!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Have an awesome weekend!

3 piece project

I wanted to make an 8x10 project that I could frame. After I cut 4" off the 12x12 sheet of cardstock I had a 6x4 folded card, which I cut a little over 1/2" off, and a 8x2 bookmark.
I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the "with love" and highlighed it with a gold pen; the white background heart was emossed with white embossing powder; the heart near the bottom was stamped with distress ink, overstamped with versamark and clear embossing powder, and then rubbed with red distress ink into the open areas.

I used a Tim Holtz snowflake mask with gesso applied overtop for the background; after it dried I overstamped with a writing stamp; I used a Cuttlebug folder to emboss the tag and highlighted with paint; I used the 1/2" portions I cut off of the bottom of the card to place across the card and tag after stamping a saying with white embossing powder; and I used the white embossing powder again on the heart and bottom of the tag.

I used a snowflake stamp and white embossing powder for the background; I applied a Tim Holtz snowman mask to a white piece of cardstock and used his distress inks in China blue and Pumice stone around the edges and placed it above a piece of lace that extends across the width; "let it" is embossed with white embossing powder, and the word "snow" is stickers; I covered a round piece of chipboard with the China blue ink and covered it with stickles and put a snowflake brad in the center.

My daughter wanted to add the red bow for this picture!
