ScrapbookerPhD Challenge #25 - Red, White & Blue

**note- Update
The ScrapbookerPhD blog has decided to shut down their challenge blog due to unforeseen circumstances.

It's time for another challenge over at the ScrapbookerPhD blog and the theme this month is Red, White and Blue!

and our sponsor this month is

For my project this month I've used the PPPR Side Step Card cutting file from our sponsor, which I cut with my Cricut Explore, and stamps from the Pen Pal stamp set from the sister company, Pretty Cute Stamps.

Since I'm in Canada we have Canada Day on July 1st and the colours for that are red and white. So, for the 'red, white and blue' theme I thought I'd do a 'letter' themed project in these colours. I started by cutting the step card out with the Cricut Explore. Then I edged my inside white rectangles with Faded Jeans Distress Ink and started layering on my stamped, coloured images.

I just love this cute little mailbox! I stamped him on red patterened paper and used some gel pens to highlight his cheeks, mouth and teeth. Then I used some Prismacolor Markers to add some shadowing around the edges. I cut open the mailbox door and tucked a letter inside and then used a foam dot to keep it partially open. I just love the envelopes included in this set! I hand drew the black stitching lines after I glued them on.

On the steps I used more of the envelopes and added some more stamps from the set.

I wanted to include an area that I could write a letter to the recipient, so I cut a piece of patterned paper and made a pocket in the top step to tuck it into.

Inside the 'Letter' I stamped Pen Pal and this is where I will write my note!

I hope you've enjoyed this red, white and blue letter themed card today! Don't forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team for ScrapbookerPhD has come up with - and enter your own for a chance to win an awesome prize from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons! I hope all my US friends have a wonderful July 4th!

ScrapbookerPhD Challenge #24 - Summer Fun!

Time for another challenge over at the ScrapbookerPhD blog! This month our challenge will be Summer Fun!

For my card today I used a sweet C.C. Designs stamp that I've had for a while! I stamped her on watercolour paper and coloured her in with Distress and Tombow markers. For the background I used some Prima Jack & Jill cardstock which had a beachy scene on one side and sand with footprints and seashells on the other. The seashell in the background is diecut with the Cricut from the backside of that paper and edged with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I layered on some washi tape and more stamped images from a My Favorite Things stamp set and then added some Gold Stickles. You can see in this pic how glittery it makes her hair in the light!

Inside, I used some more of the MFT stamps, Stickles and washi tape!

I'm totally ready to head out to the beach now!

Be sure to head over to the ScrapbookerPhD blog to see what all the other Design Team members have come up with! You have a whole month to enter your Summer Fun creation for a chance to win a sweet prize from our sponsor this month - Pink and Main!

It's time for another month's challenge at -

This month's challenge is - Mother's Day with a twist 'Flowers'!

Our Sponsor this week is Sherri Baldy

For my project I used this adorable digi stamp from our sponsor, Sherri Baldy to create a Mother's Day card!  I used some Spellbinders Nestabilities to diecut around her and then used a background of patterned papers I had in my stash. Using the sketch over at the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge blog, I placed my layered flowers and butterfly, and I added some gems for bling.

I coloured her with Prismacolor Markers and gel pens in spring colours to coordinate with my papers!

Scrapbooker PhD Challenge - Focus On A Sentiment!

I have some super exciting news to share!! I was recently chosen to be on the Design Team for Scrapbooker PhD where you will find a monthly challenge with lots of inspiration! You can share your own project following the theme for that month's challenge and have a chance to win a prize from our amazing sponsor!

For this month's challenge we are 'Focusing On A Sentiment'.

Our Sponsor this week is Craft Classes Online!

For my project I used my Cricut Explore to cut a circle shaped card and an inner circle using a pale green patterned paper. Then I used the Spring Fling cartridge for the sentiment and flowers, and I popped up some of the flowers to add dimension. I really wanted to have a 'spring' look for my card and I think the pinks and greens really added that!

After diecutting my sentiment I used Versamark and heated Ranger Sticky Stuff before sprinkling with a microfine glitter.

I used a pen in the Cricut and used the 'write' option to draw on the inner scallopped border design with the little circles. I added some glittery green thread, a button and some sequins to my card as well.

I also used pens to draw on my leaf and flower cuts with the Cricut and then added some glitter gel pen highlights.

Inside, I added a stamped sentiment and more of the little mini SU butterflies.

I hope you are inspired to create your own card which focuses on a sentiment and share it with us at Scrapbooker PhD!
