Snowy Season's Greetings Card!

Hello friends! I'm back today with a snowy Season's Greetings card using embossing powders, brads and stamps from Emerald Creek along with Distress Oxide Sprays and Kraftin' Kimmie Ink. The challenge on the Emerald Creek Blog this month is a wintry one with inspiration from the song Aspenglow by John Denver. I chose to use the Mountain Range stamp and a pretty snowflake stencil, and I think it looks very wintry indeed!

You can find all the details on the Emerald Creek Blog as well as closeups and product links.  I will be demoing these techniques live on the Emerald Creek Facebook Page on Thursday, November 7th @ 10 am MST!! We always have fun giveaways and updates, so be sure to check in. And don't forget to enter your own project on the blog as well for a chance to win an awesome prize pack!

Peace Christmas Decor Tag!

Hello! Well, Christmas is coming in 51 sleeps... yeah my 7 year old made me download the app! I figured I should do some stress-free Christmas crafting before that realization hits that you have 5 teacher gifts and 10 stocking stuffers to make in two days, lol. So, I was at a crop over the weekend and decided to enjoy making a lovely and peaceful tag using some fun supplies from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Shop. I pulled out a Chipboard Tag, 3x3 Star Stencil, Soda Fizz Stencil, Words Of Christmas set and Cedar Trees pack and got crafty! You can visit the SRTC  Blog for a How To Tutorial in case you'd like to see just how I made it.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to head over to the Southern Ridge Trading Company Blog where you can find all the how-to details, closeups and supplies for this festive tag. Have a wonderful week friends!

With Sugar On Top Scrapbook Layout!

I hope all my US friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend! I had lots of fun playing in the 15 Minutes 2 Scrap with SpiegelMom Scraps this weekend. It is such a great community of creative, crafty girls, and one worth checking out! There were some awesome challenges and lots of inspiration going on as well as some great sales over at the SpiegelMom Scraps Store! I'll post a code below for the Cyber Monday Sale!

One of the challenges was to create an 8 1/2 x 11 layout using gold letters, a stencil, and mixed media. This was a bit of a challenge since I'm a 12 x 12 scrapbooker! But it was definitely fun, and I love how it turned out. I started off using a sketch from the October Sketchy Challenge on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine website and adapted it to fit my page. Using an off white background I stenciled white snowflakes using a Dina Wakley stencil and white Ranger texture paste in three different clusters on my page and then splattered some pretty Christmas coloured mists on my page using Tattered Angels Mists in Sage and Wild Currant along with some Tim Holtz Mica Mist. I also used the Glimmer Mists to colour in the seam binding ribbon on my journaling tag.

I used the gumdrop stamps from the Pretty Cute Stamps Gingerbread House clear stamp set on some white cardstock that I had misted with the Glimmer Mists, as well as a couple sentiments - one stamped directly onto my photo. The diecuts are from the Winter Frolic Cricut cartridge, which was a free cut of the week. I created three distinct clustered areas on my layout with the stenciled areas, diecuts, stamps and sequins to create a visual triangle around my photos.

For the gold lettering element, I used Emerald Creek Charred Gold embossing powder on my diecut letters. This embossing powder is fantastic! I love the gold with pops of black in it.  I was so excited to recently pick up this embossing powder, Gold Confetti SpiegelMom Scraps sequins and amazing Holiday Style patterned papers from the new Canadian Wild Whisper Shop, and to use all these wonderful goodies on my layout! I had lots of fun using these pretty papers on my diecut images and fussy cutting out the pretty stars from one of the papers. I even added a bit of sugary Stickles to my letters for some extra detail.

Here's that code for the SpiegelMom Scraps Store if you feel like doing a little Cyber Monday shopping ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! As December approaches we're looking forward to doing lots of Christmas activities and enjoying a happy Holiday season once again. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and have a creative and joyful week ahead!

Pretty Cute Stamps September Challenge - Polka Dots!

There's a fun new challenge happening right now at the Pretty Cute Stamps blog - Polka Dots! I just love polka dots; they're just so FUN!

I used the stamp set Bushels Of Fun to create this pretty mixed media Fall card! Apples totally remind me of Fall, and I just love this set!

When I was doing Creative Chemistry 103 over the summer I created the panel for this card using a Distress MicroGlaze technique where I stamped my image on watercolour paper, coloured with Distress Markers and then applied the Distress MicroGlaze on top and around my image, creating a cool resist. Then, I spritzed Dylusions Sprays on my craft mat and applied my panel on top. This creates such a cool watercoloured background, but protects the original stamped image!

I stamped this sweet half apple on watercolour paper and coloured it in with Distress Markers before fussy cutting and placing it over my stamped sentiment and polka dot ribbon. The heart is also from the stamp set!

I used a polka dot stencil and transparent glaze to stencil circles on top of my panel. I added clear glitter on top before the glaze dried, creating some subtle, but sparkly dots! A few shiny sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps finish off my polka dot theme!

Inside, I used another watercoloured apple and added a cute little face. I added a polka dot border of the same paper I used on the front card base. I'm not sure exactly what occasion I'll use this card for yet, but it could certainly work for Thanksgiving, friend, birthday, and more!

Here's the adorable stamp set I used for my project -

Art Alchemy Mixed Media Tag!

I hope everyone enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day on Sunday! Any day spent with my girls is a blessing, and of course my husband and girls spoiled me. I even had time to work on this pretty tag! Recently my friend, Laura, let me borrow her Art Alchemy Metallique Acrylic Paints by Finnabair! Good friend, hey! Well, I love them.... I tried them on chipboard, metal and thought I'd give them a swipe on this manilla tag.

They have such a lovely metal sheen, and wonderful coverage! After layering on my paint I used Distress Inks to sponge on some colour on the remaining unpainted areas of the tag. I love how the paints just pop and look like they're actually added on top of the Distress Inks! After that I stamped an image with Ranger Archival Black Ink.

Next, I used a Dina Wakley stencil to add some Texture Paste to my project and added one of the metal pieces I painted with those fun Finnabair Paints. I heated it with a heat gun, so it actually bubbled a bit, and I think if I'd let it air dry it would have been smoother. But hey, sometimes a girl just can't wait, right?! I cut a Tim Holtz Sticker from the Chit Chat book in half and added it behind my metal frame.

Here's a look at my finished tag -

The little wooden butterfly and dragonfly are from CTMH and easily coloured up with Distress Markers. The sequins from 28 Lilac Lane add an extra bit of shimmer and shine around the page.

You can see how nicely the chipboard with the heart cutout covered using the Art Alchemy paints. This was just one coat! I layered on a left over Heartfelt Creations flower from Holly's Make 'n Take last week, adding some Stickles, and tied on my seam binding ribbon that I coloured with Distress Stains.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you'll pull out some paints and use them on something you haven't tried before!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles - November Challenge!

Hi friends! I cannot believe it is November already! We had an awesome Halloween and the weather has been pretty good - and by that I mean we haven't had any big snow storms! I like November for getting ahead on any Christmas prep, but also feeling like I can do some non holiday related crafting without feeling like I should be doing Christmas stuff! Since we have already had Thanksgiving here in Canada that's not something I have to focus on either.

I wanted to scrap a couple pics of my youngest for this month's challenge on the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog using the layout sketch and some cute pics I took of her this spring. Erica is such a tomboy, but when she does dress up you can see she makes it count!

I layered a piece of shiny black cardstock over some purple cardstock for a framed effect after adding some fun multicoloured stenciling using Ranger Texture Paste coloured with Distress Inks. It was so easy to mix the paste into some ink smooshed on my craft sheet!

I used some Kaisercraft stickers and paper diecuts to embellish my page with!

The #mygirl title is cut from an i heart studio file by Wilna Furstenberg. She has the most beautiful cut files!! I used my Cricut Explore and cut it out of watercolour paper. Then I used coordinating inks to match my stenciling and coloured the title. I just love how it turned out!

This was one of those pages that just came together so easily and I loved it immediately! I wish everything was that easy, lol! I'm sure the cute pics had something to do with it :0.

Here's the layout sketch this month:

Mixed Media Wall Hanging Tutorial!

I'm back today for a post from the Scrapendipity Way Of Life Blog to bring you a tutorial for a pretty mixed media wall hanging project!

I started off by taking a 5x7" canvas board and misting it with Dylusions Inks.

I then sponged Distress Inks around the edges of my canvas matching the colours of the spray and adding some Vintage Photo.

I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to sponge around the edges of some torn script paper and a floral paper from a Tim Holtz paper pad.

I used a Dylusions sentiment to stamp onto paper, which I then cut out, sponged with ink and glued onto a cardstock background.

I added some Distress Ink to a craft sheet and mixed in Texture Paste to create a coloured paste.

I then used a stencil to add the coloured paste to my background after adding all my elements and a bit of gelatos over top.

I added a doily, ribbon, flowers and my floral paper to the left bottom of the canvas.

And to finish it off I layered a diecut leaf, some more paper flowers, a metal butterfly embellishment, and some ribbon!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you'll give mixed media a try and just get out some paints and sprays and start layering!
