Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps February New Release HOP - Day 2 Pretty Fly!

Hello friends, and welcome back to Day 2 of the fabulous February 2020 Release Sneak Peeks from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!! Did you enjoy yesterday's previews of all the amazing new goodies?? Are ya ready for MORE? Be sure to check out the VIDEO below for closeups over everything!
Today we have a sweet new encouragement set by fabulous artist Cheryl Grant! It's called....PRETTY FLY! What a sweet little family of tweeters! There is one main image with an extra birdie stamp plus some wonderful and uplifting sentiments!  These little sweethearts make my heart soar!
I just love the way the little bird looks like he's getting ready to fly, so I decided to play on that and create a flip card showing him spreading his wings! This card would be perfect for Graduation or Congrats, and I love how many other occasions you could use this lovely spring set for - there are lots of options with these sentiments!
I created a background on Yupo Paper with Ranger Alcohol Inks and used a Sizzix die to cut out an oval. I used the Mama Elephant Flip Slider die to create a little flip effect showing the baby bird spreading his wings to fly!
I used one of our NEW stencils - Chubby Clouds to lightly stencil in fluffy clouds in the background with Bubbly Blue Ink (on sale this month!!)
Our NEW ink Magical Midnight is a wonderful stony blue, which I used to stamp the sentiment on the pull tab.
I used Copic Markers to colour in the images. You could use so many colour combinations for these cuties! I added three of our NEW Heavenly Dots on the bottom left of the card for a touch more of texture and colour!
Inside, I stamped the cute stand alone birdie and a cheerful sentiment, and I used the NEW Fabulous Feathers Stencil with Bubbly BlueLovely Lagoon and NEW Magical Midnight Inks.
Here's a look at the VIDEO where you can see everything included in the Pretty Fly stamp set along with the interactive card I created in action!
Check out PRETTY FLY in action as you hop around the Krafty Team's blogs today!  You'll also see new stencils, new ink and new dots!!  Be sure to leave some love at each stop because Kraftin' Kimmie is going to give away some krafty $$ to a lucky commenter!

They work amazing on Yupo paper as well as to customize any metallic embellishments. You'll be able to get closeups on each step on the EC blog!

Alcohol Inks with Altered Frame!

Hello friends! Can you believe it's April already..?!! Even though I always associate spring with rain and flowers, here in Alberta we don't get a lot of rain - and June is actually the rainiest month. However, this month the new challenge on the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies blog is Singing In The Rain, and I was totally inspired to create something that was rainy, but said Springtime! It was my sister's birthday a couple weeks ago and I wanted to make her a little something personal to go along with her gift card. She loved it!

Be sure to head over to the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies blog to see closeups on my project and get all the details on this month's challenge - with a chance to win - woo hoo!! Have an awesome week friends!

You're A Wild One Layout and Other Crafty Stuff!

Hi! I hope you're having a wonderful week! It's back to being quite chilly here and we've gotten more snow, so a good reason to stay inside and get crafty ;) Saturday I went to a friend's house with my sis and friend and lots of other crafty gals and we took a class from Sherry Telle, who is a talented artist who taught an alcohol ink painting class using Pinata Inks, Yupo paper and tiles. It was so fun to watch her create and then to get to try out our own styles using her supplies. With just a few supplies we were able to create beautiful mini works of art!

The Yupo paper is such a great surface to play on, but you do never know what you'll get as it dries! That's half the fun of it I think!

I didn't even get too inky! A couple green fingers, but that's ok ;)

My sister, Jann is a natural and created gorgeous samples! She framed three of hers in a frame, one above the other, and they looked amazing.

One of my crafty besties, Laura, is so creative as well - it was inspiring just sitting beside these girls. And you can see Sherry working hard at the end of the table. This studio space is in my friend, Mary's basement! Can you imagine having your whole basement as a craft room - it's incredible 💗

The Pinata Inks are so vivid - I even brought the plastic plate home!

I also wanted to share this cute layout I created for the SpiegelMom Scraps Instagram Feed last week! Our theme this month is Love and Cutfiles, so I played around with some Cricut cuts in Design Space that I used with my Cricut Explore as well as some FREE cutfiles from the SMS shop! I used the January Sketch from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Sketchy Challenge. Each month they have a new sketch to inspire you to create, as well as a gallery full of amazing layouts from other scrapbookers. Be sure to check out all the details on this fun layout over on IG! Don't forget to use the code KARLA15 to save 15% off all your purchases at the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a warm and cozy week, and don't forget to leave a comment on the Getting Fab With Foil blog hop post if you haven't already! If you get your comment on by Friday February 9th, you'll have a chance to win a package of Ranger Foil Sheets from Scrap 'N Stamp Canada!

Pretty Cute Stamps August Challenge - Let's Celebrate!

I just love the challenges each month on the Pretty Cute Stamps blog! It gives us a chance to see all the amazing creations that you wonderful crafty peeps make with the awesome stamps from Pretty Cute Stamps! This month our challenge is "Let's Celebrate"! If you saw the New Releases that just came out last week you know you have a ton of options, along with all the previously released sets!

For my project I decided to use the Otterly Amazing clear stamp set in my collection, but of course I had to add in some of the adorable new digi stamps from this month's new releases! I used the balloon from the Birthday Monkey set, and the fun thing about the digital stamps are that you can make them shorter, taller, wider when you print them - so I was easily able to make these 3 different shaped balloons! I coloured them with Prismacolor Markers and fussy cut them out and then added some hemp twine for the strings and tied them onto my little otter's tail!

I watercoloured this cute little otter using Prima Watercolor Pencils (love them!) and stamped the cute cupcake, included in the Otter set onto a watercoloured background before adding a Stickle cherry on top! The sweet sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps decorate my balloons and the watery background.

I was playing around with some alcohol inks and the Snow Cap white mixative and you can see the backgrounds I created with different cardstocks/tag papers. I ended up using the one on the right, which was done on glossy white cardstock. I cut it to fit inside the Simple Stories chipboard frame and heat embossed the tiny seashells included in the Otterly Amazing stamp set

Inside, I used a sentiment from the Hey Cupcake digital stamp set, along with the gift box from the Birthday Puppy digital stamp set (I love being able to size these digi stamps!!). I tucked a couple seashells from the Otterly Amazing set into the box - because if I was an otter, I would totally want seashells for my birthday! and then added some more wonderful sequins. These tiny stars are too cute!

I stamped two sentiments from the Otterly Amazing stamp set directly onto the chipboard frame with Archival black ink, which dries nicely on the slick surface. This wonderful StarShine paper from Shimelle was just perfect to layer on all my birthday fun. I added the striped border strip along the bottom from one of the 12x12 pages.  I'm sure whoever gets this card will be ready to celebrate!

Here's a look at the sets I used to create my card:

Ombre Technique with Alcohol Inks!

I've been rewatching a lot of the videos lately from the Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 and 102 classes from Online Card Classes, and I came across this neat technique using alcohol inks. I love using alcohol inks, but they're one of those things that I forget about using all the time!

I started with a piece of glossy cardstock and used the felt pads to layer on three different colours of alcohol inks from light to dark, swiping across my tag and slightly overlapping each colour to blend it all together. I took a metal heart piece from my stash and covered it with several colours of alcohol inks, including the gold mixative, with a felt pad. I filled in the heart in the centre with Glossy Accents and sprinkled glitter on in three coordinating colours.

I stamped with Archival black ink over the alcohol inked background, using several stamps at different angles. A bit of translucent embossing paste with a Tim Holtz stencil and some clear glitter on top gives it some pretty texture.

I added some blue ribbon and a cute paperclip along with some pretty yarn and ribbons at the top of my tag and then added a friendship pin. Do you remember these?! I made them when I was a kid, and just thought the other day this would be a fun thing for my girls to do.

Erica loves making these cute little pins! All you need are safety pins and beads- which you probably have in your stash!

A few sequins attached with Glossy Accents and my pretty tag was good to go!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I'm busy now watching Creative Chemistry 103, and will definitely be back with lots to share from that. Hope you have an awesome week!
