Storytime Scrapbook Layout!

Hello friends! I can't believe it's Wednesday already... Wow the time flies! Over the weekend I was lucky enough to spend a whole day scrapbooking with one of my crafty besties, and even though I didn't get much done I had a whole lot of fun!! And that's what it's about, right?!! I try not to pack too much when I go to a crop, because I know if I get 3 layouts done in one whole day that's a lot for me - and that's ok. I grabbed some photos, my print out of sketches from the Ready, Sketch, Go class taught by Tracie Claiborne and Jen Schow (which is fabulous!) and a couple paper packs along with some embellishments, stamps, inks and a few other fun things I want to throw in.

I did manage to get this layout done with my two youngest girls reading together a few years ago. I started off with some white cardstock layered over a black and white patterned paper, and I used Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks to do an ink smooshing technique.

I pulled out the Lori Whitlock Petticoats and Pinstripes collection from Echo Park to use on this layout. I love the colours and the coordinating stickers in the pack! I loved the way my friend was creating a layout and using foam dots to pop up some of her photos, so I tried it with my center photo and I loved it. Another great reason to get together and scrap with friends... you never know when you'll see an idea that you can't believe you never tried before!

I used embroidery floss to add some cross stitching to the corner of my layout by first pre-punching the holes with a paper piercing tool. Some enamel dots and SpiegelMom Scraps cork confetti heart and sequins add embellishment layered over the paper and stickers.

I used one of the sketches from the Ready, Sketch, Go class for my layout and layered my papers and photos down according to the sketch before embellishing with lots of fun goodies! The sticker letters were included in the paper pack, which was perfect!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check back tomorrow for some exciting news!! ;)

FCCB #283 - Vacations!

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Challenge #283-Vacations
Create a project that features what a vacation is to you!

This Weeks Sponsor

The prize is 7 digital stamps!

And we are giving away a $25 Amazon gift certificate, courtesy of FCCB Design Team!

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

For my project this week I've created a scrapbook layout, based on Sketch #7 from the Ready Sketch Go online class, of one of our summer vacations a few years ago! I love the rainbow colours in this floatie my daughter is laying on, so I just decided to go wild and make this a fun, colourful layout! The Simple Stories cut apart papers worked great on this page, and some pretty sequins from the Spiegelmom Scraps store decorate the page.

I coloured this fun sunshine tab cut with Primacolor Markers and then traced some of the Simple Stories paper onto the tab base and cut around it. I added another fun sequin, and edged the cloud cuts with Distress Ink before layering them on. You can find the link to these free cut files, along with the wave cuts at the bottom of the post.

This cute camera, from the Cricut CTMH Artistry cartridge, is popped up on a foam dot on top of my Simple Stories journaling card. I find using a ruler and pencil to mark straight lines on my card and then erasing after allows me to make sure I'm writing straight.

I backed the Away We Go diecut from the Artistry cartridge with more of the green dotted paper that I used for the cute seahorse and for the inside of the Summer title cut - both linked below. I cut the Vacation title from a Miss Kate Cuttable file and layered it partly on top of my photo.

I coloured this adorable Poppi Penguin digi stamp from Bugaboo Stamps with Prismacolor and Hobby Colour Markers and then used a sponge to blend Distress Inks around the edge before placing it behind this Polaroid cut file from the Artistry cartridge.

Erica wanted to help, so she had to hold up the layout!

PPPR Guest Designer - Popsicle Fever Layout!

I'm really excited to be featured on the Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons blog today as a Guest Designer using some amazing SVG diecut files available from the PPPR Store! I used the fun Popsicle Fever cut files for my bright title and popsicles and the pretty Background Lace 2 cut files to create the diecut triangle background above and below my photo. Some BoBunny, Simple Stories and Shimelle papers added some more fun elements to this fun summer page.

I used sketch #8  from the Ready Sketch Go online scrapbook class - I love the grid like layout of this design! For the yummy popsicles I cut both layers using the same colour cardstock, and then used markers to create a darker shade for the bottom layer. I love the layered title and the way the 'popsicle' letters stand out!

One of my favourite elements of this layout is the white triangle diecut background! This SVG file is actually a square, but I sliced it in Cricut Design Space to be a rectangle and I layered some ombre paper underneath. You could also simply cut the square down to the size you like. I think this background would look awesome on a card too!

I used a stamp from the Just Chill stamp set from Pretty Cute Stamps - 'Anything's Popsicle' on the layers of paper I clustered in the corner. There are so many great sentiments and cute popsicles in this stamp set!

Here's a look at the fun files I used:

Awesome Camping Layout!

I've been working away at the Ready Sketch Go online scrapbooking class and LOVING it! Here's a layout using some photos from a camping trip we took a few years ago with some friends. I used sketch #5 for this one. I love the grid look, and it worked perfectly to fit in lots of photos on one page. Since this layout is going in my album along with a lot of other pages from this camping trip I didn't add a whole lot of journaling or a specific title indicating where we were. I've been working on these off and on for a while, so it will be nice to get them finished up, lol!

The Awesome diecut is one that is included with the class. I used my Cricut Explore to cut it out and then spritzed it with Dylusions mists in coordinating colours. I used some of the mists as well to add some droplets to the postcard journaling card.

I found a few camping embellishments in my stash and then paired them with some regular paper ephemera. I also cut out some words from the background of a printed paper and added a few stickers.

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you're enjoying a lovely week.

Welcome to another Challenge Me Monday...

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Verve Stamps

Winner will receive a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Verve Stamps

Make a card or projects using animals you find on a farm

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

For my project this week I've created a scrapbook layout using the 4th sketch from the Ready Sketch Go class that I've been thoroughly enjoying, and my Cricut for my title and farmyard diecuts.

I wanted my title, cut from the Country Life cartridge to stand out a bit more so I layered it on a yellow oval, which I added to some paper strips and a fun country sticker.  These cute buttons are from May Flaum's new embellishment line - 28 Lilac Lane, from the Tropical Twist set. These sets are soooo awesome!

I used some woodgrain and script papers to cut my fence and then used some Distress Ink to add highlights to the cuts.

The fence and haybale diecuts are from the Old West cartridge, and the rooster is from the From My Kitchen cartridge. These were easy to lay out in Design Space to get the correct size and then I coordinated my colours.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you had a lovely Easter and enjoy a wonderful week ahead. Don't forget to stop by the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog to see what all the other Design Team members have come up with for this fun challenge - and enter your own project with a Cricut cut for a chance to win a fabulous prize from Verve Stamps!

Look At This Awesome View!

I'm loving the online scrapbooking class Ready, Sketch Go and wanted to share my 3rd sketch from the class! I've been hoarding these Capture Life viewmaster stickers, alphas and paper for just the right layout and I finally got some great photos that were perfect for scrapping with these lovely embellishments!

I even found a viewmaster stencil from Balzer Designs that I used on my layout! I just love this woodgrain paper <3

I wanted to try an experiment and used the write feature on my Cricut to journal!! I used one of the new Signature fonts and then cut the cardstock into strips to add to my layout.

This Tim Holtz viewmaster diecut is one of my favourites. I layered a piece of black cardstock under it to make it look like the real thing.

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you'll check out the Ready Sketch Go class if you'd like to make more scrapbook layouts. It is really amazing and there is even more inspiration in their FB group! Wishing you a happy, crafty week!

Money Mountain!

Well, I'm slowly working through the amazing online scrapbook class Ready Sketch Go!  You can see my layout for Sketch #1 here. For my second layout I've chosen to use some photos from a camping trip we went on last summer.

I pulled camping papers out of my stash and then brought in a striped paper that included the pink and turquiose from the outfits the girls were wearing.

I keep all my camping papers and stickers together, so I used ones I found there first and then started looking for other creative things to add.
I dug through my ephemera to find little coins and papers with money on them. Then, I used Glossy Accents to give my coins some extra shine.

I drew my lines for journaling with a quilting ruler and then erased them after I finished.

Thanks so much for joining me today, and have a happy, crafty weekend! Don't forget to check out the Pretty Cute Stamps blog hop showcasing all the fun new releases for March - you can find my Spring card here using the new Grow set!

Summer Pool Layout!

I've been having so much fun with the Ready Sketch Go online class from Tracie Claiborne and Jen Schow! They are both so super talented and it's awesome to be able to see their takes on each sketch. This is my first layout following sketch #1.

I found some photos of my daughter I had printed in a 5x7 format when she was about 3. They are some of my favourite photos I had taken at the time and I just hadn't scrapbooked them yet. I love this cute one of her with the bright yellow, red, pink and aqua blue colours, and I was really excited to use these papers from the My Minds Eye collection along with some Carta Bella papers and stickers. The colours of the papers and stickers coordinated perfectly with the photo!

Over at the Mercy Tiara FB group, the March 27 day challenge is to use something you've been hoarding. I have realized I have trouble using pretty papers up that I feel won't be the main focus of the page. It seems so hard to cut them and put them behind a photo, even though they look wonderful there and the whole point is to enhance a photo- not scrapbook a piece of paper, lol! So I forced myself to cut these papers up- although I did cut out the centre of the papers that you wouldn't see so I could use them on a card!

My title was a sticker from the Carta Bella sticker sheet. It was nice to be able to find a happy home for some of these lovely stickers! I stitched along the outside of my layout and this along with the layers of papers and ephemera gives it a great 'Touchy Feely' texture!

I cut a couple cute cameras and speech bubbles out of some Fancy Pants Design paper and layered my embellishments together. I love journaling right on my page, so this design worked great!

Thanks so much for joining me today! Please check out both the Ready Sketch Go class - there is so much amazing content - sketches, videos, print-outs, a private FB group! As well as the Mercy Tiara 27 day challenge group for monthly challenges and inspiration!
