SpiegelMom Scraps September New Release Blog Hop!

Hi crafty friends! I am so excited to share the new release sequins with you from SpiegelMom Scraps!! We are having a fun blog hop to celebrate and here's a look at the sparkly goodness you are definitely going to want to check out! If you arrived here from Ali's blog, you are in the right place, and if you want to start from the beginning you can head to the SpiegelMom Scraps blog

I just couldn't pick one beautiful sequin mix to work with, so I mixed and matched to add bling and embellish this wonderful traveler's notebook that I made while I was on a Wild Whisper Hike in July. This is the first time I've done a traveler's notebook, and I love it!! These sequins were the perfect embellishments to coordinate with my photos and paper and add that extra bit of bling and pizzazz to my project πŸ’—
Here's the cover. After stamping on a manilla tag with the Wild Whisper stamps and Distress Oxide Inks I added my embellishments, sequins and burlap string.

On the first page inside I stamped, added Wild Whisper journaling cards and stamps, and used a little glassine envelope to add some of the grass we picked on our hike.

On the next page I used Distress Oxide Inks to sponge colour across a Wild Whisper journaling card and then added coordinating sequins along the edge! I decided to add some quotes that I found online beside the photos I took.

A Tim Holtz stencil in the background added yellow to this page along with the pretty Gold Burlap String and pops of yellow sequins in the Water Lilies mix.

I layered some photos over papers and the "K" index card divider. We each got a divider with our initial on it! I wrote a hand lettered 'selfie' sentiment and added some of the sweet orange flowers from the Peachy Keen and Aquarius sequin mixes.

On the last page I completed I added some Gelatos to my page and layered on the 150. It was Canada's 150th birthday this year, so I wanted to make sure to document that in my book. The tiny stars from the Lisa's Starry Night mix was perfect to add some celebratory bling to my numbers. I had so much fun making this traveler's notebook, and I know I'll definitely be playing around with this more.
The sequin mixes I used are Lisa's Starry Night, Water Lilies, Aquarius, Morning Glow, Painted Gardens, Peachy Keen and On Pointe. You can find them all in the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop - and don't forget to use the code KARLA15 to save 15% off your purchases!!

Sequin Saturday Blog Hop with SpiegelMom Scraps!

Hello crafty friends, and welcome to day 2 of a very special Triple Hop weekend! I am so so super excited to join the SpiegelMom Scraps Design Team today to share in this blog hop! Today is all about SEQUINS!!! The SpiegelMom Scraps Sparklers and some amazing guests are rocking this weekend with 3 bodacious blog hops; Friday, today and Sunday. For today's hop, you should have arrived here from Evi Cortes' blog - Life With Evi! I absolutely adore her colourful, fun projects!! So inspiring! You will definitely want to check out all the awesome designers and the amazing ways they've used the fun products available from the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop!

Today's talented blog hop line up is:
For my project today I've used the fun cut files available for FREE from the SpiegelMom Scraps Blog and the super awesome sequins from the store! My girls (now 4 and 9) both love to read, and I love this photo of them a few years ago pouring over a book!

I recently picked up the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection and wanted to use it on this layout. I love the colours, and the fun sequins matched beautifully! I used the orange sequins from A Day In The Woods to highlight the cute hearts on this paper strip.

The pink, yellow and blue sequins from Spring Blooms were awesome scattered over my page! I used them on the journaling card behind my photo, on the pretty flower diecuts, and on the bottom of my page beside the great books diecut!

The lovely blue sequins from A Mermaid's Tale were perfect to decorate the diecut title, which I cut from white cardstock and coloured with Prismacolor alcohol markers, and the tiny (oh so cute!) silver star sequins were just right for the book spines and on the journaling card behind my photo. I love the strips of papers in the Take Me Away papers, and found some words that fit into the openings of the books. Some stitching around my page finished it off!

I'd love for you be in the running for the $10.00 shop credit, so be sure to leave comments on all the blogs to be entered! You have through September 6th to comment and enter. Sharing on social media will also earn you an extra entry. Just leave another comment on the SMS blog letting us know where you shared the blog hop event.

Wipe Off Memo Board Teacher Gift!

Well, we're almost to the end of June - and that means teacher gifts! We usually give gift cards to the teachers, but I think it's nice to include a little something useful as well.  I saw this cute DIY tutorial on YouTube and thought it would be quick, cute, and within our budget. Erica had 3 teachers this year in preschool, and Amie wanted one for her teacher too!

We started by picking up four pretty 4x6 photo frames at the dollar store, along with a package of wipe off markers. We then chose 4x6 Project Life Cards - I liked these lined ones so you could easily write your message,

We added the Currently stamp from Pretty Cute Stamps to the top line with black ink, inserted it into the frame and tied some baker's twine through the little hole on the top of the marker to attach it to the frame.

Lastly, we wrote a little note on the memo board before wrapping it up.

Here's a look at the Currently stamp set I used:

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you're enjoying the last week of June and have some fun summer plans to look forward to!

Pocket Letter using Scrapbook Supplies!

Hi crafty friends!! We are starting to have some lovely weather here in Calgary, Alberta, and since you never know when that will change we've been trying to enjoy as much as we can of it. When I do get a minute to be crafty, one of the things I do love to do is create something out of my scrapbook supplies even if I'm not scrapbooking!

Today, I'm sharing an eye spy pocket letter with you that I made for a swap in one of the Facebook groups I'm in. For the background papers for my pocket cards I used the 6x6 BoBunny paper pads from the Believe and Butterfly Kisses collections. I just love the papers in both of these collections! The Believe papers especially have a mixed media layered look to them that is so pretty.

I included at least one of each eye spy item on my page:
- Owl, Heart, Key, Cupcake, Mason Jar, Butterfly, Clock, Crown and Coffee Cup

I pulled out lots of stamps, including stamps from Pretty Cute Stamps, Tim Holtz, Imaginesce and Graphic 45 and whatever else I felt would work with this pretty letter.

I added some Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers and used some Stickles and Glossy Accents along with a doily that I cut up and some washi tape for closing up the pockets with beads and sequins on the back.

On the back, I added some goodies for my partner and a note from me.

I love that these pocket letters can fold into thirds and fit into an A10 envelope! I decorated my envelope with some Tim Holtz stencils and coordinating stamps and some Distress Inks.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I'd love to hear what you've made lately with your papercrafting supplies!

DIY Scrapbook Tag Embellishments!

Hi Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It was nice enough out here that we got out and took the girls for a little bike ride to the park. They made birdhouses at the local Home Depot kid's craft event and my 9 year old went to a Petland birthday party where she held a tarantula... yikes! My favourite thing was making these cute DIY tags :) I've been watching lots of YouTube videos on making your own scrapbook embellishments lately and thought I'd give it a try.

I pulled out a sheet of BoBunny Sweet Life paper from a 6x6" paper pad and cut it into 6 tags, each measuring 2x3". I rounded the tops of the corners with my We R Memory Keepers corner punch and sponged Victorian Velvet Distress Ink on the edge. I used a circle punch to punch out a circle of coordinating paper and, after gluing it to the top of my tag, hole punched through both layers so that it looked like I had reinforced the tag hole. I have lots of little scraps of paper, especially longer border strips that I was able to cut into banners and layer on my tags.

My circle punches worked to punch little pieces of leftover papers from my 6x6" pads and, together with some fun rectangles cut from an older Simple Stories pad, as well as some Tim Holtz Chitchat stickers, I was able to create some pretty tags and use up supplies at the same time!

I tied some embroidery floss through my tag and added some homemade 'enamel dots' that I made with a sparkly silver gluestick and my hot glue gun. The Ranger craft sheet is excellent for making these on!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this gives you some ideas to use your scrapbook supplies in a creative way :) Have an awesome crafty week!

PDE Friday Linky Party - Vegan Banana Bread!

Hi there! It's almost the end of the week.... Hope you had a lovely one! I'm sharing a project for this week's PDE Linky Party - the theme, as always, is Anything Goes, and we'd love to see what you've been working on!

I wanted to share this Vegan Banana Bread I recently made for my oldest daughter who is vegan. I have had good and not so good experiences with different vegan recipes. When you bake without eggs it changes your end result somewhat, but I seriously could not tell the difference when I ate some of this bread. And, my daughter loved it!

I used some scrapbook paper to package it up over the plastic wrap to keep it fresh. Then, I added a doily and a couple circle diecuts, and I stamped a couple of hearts around my hand written tag. I'm a firm believer that adding a few extra touches to the packaging adds so much to the gift!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and if you love baking you can give this Vegan Banana Bread a try a let me know what you think!  Don't forget to check out the fun projects the other PDE Linky Party Design Team members have come up with for you this week, and enter your own so we can see what you've been working on!
